Hi Everyone!

I need your help. My DH, DD(2) and I are going on the 7nt cruisethis august and want to spend some time in WDW after. I know its going to be crazy hot and was wondering where you'd recommend we stay. Right now i have 2 nts at vero and 3nts at AKV Jambo House Savannah View in a 1bdrm. All other resorts are open as well ad I was considering Beach Club for the pools. WE have never stayed at AKV and are on the waait list for Kidani too. I am now second guessing my choice for a few reasons......should I stick with BCV for Stormalong Bay? Are the 1bdrms reall that small in Jambo house that I should wait and make sure I can get Kidani? Should I do WIlderness Lodge for the proximity to MK? I know I am s overthinking this......but I want to be in a good spot for the hot summer.

Thanks in advance for any help/opinions!

Heather

Ps Is it true that there is no quick service in Kidani if our waitlist comes thru? Is there a store in Jambo/Kidani llike in all others for groceries?

I have taken the kids a few times in late Aug and stayed AKL, BWV and BCV - you're right - it is HOT!!. As much as I LOVE AKL(now V), we find that in the heat of the summer the animals are not quite as active and we don't enjoy sitting on the balcony much at that time of year (we want to be resting in the AC!). For only a few days (especially if you will be spending most of your time in the parks) I would think either BWV or BCV would put you right at Epcot and DHS for quick access to the room for naps, swims, etc. With a 2 year old either pool would be great - BWV has the playground area near the pool and kiddie pool, and community hall next to the quiet pool - BCV has the sand area for little ones. DNeph has requested a split stay between BWV and AKV for our June trip - but at AKV we spend at least one day just chilling at the resort and letting him enjoy the wonderful kid's programs. That's not to say you wouldn't have a great summer stay at AKV - you really can't go wrong, just a few things to consider that we've found!
Sorry - can't answer the other AKV questions - we haven't been yet since it switch to DVC - Vero Beach is AWESOME!

Hi! We stayed at BCV last August. We're a family of 4, and we live in Florida. We still can't handle the heat. We spent very little time at the parks, but took full advantage of Stormalong Bay. A resort with a nice pool is essential in August, IMHO. Have fun! :)

We stayed in a 2bd at Jambo and the living room/master was not too small. We had 4 adults and a teenager in the living room/dining room most of the time.

I would say BCV for the pool. Stormalong bay has a great kids pool that was perfect for our 2 and 4 year old. We hope to go back again this year.

We tried to book w/ BCV yesterday, and they were full the week of Aug 2 - Aug 8th, so good luck. I SOOOOO wanted to swim in SAB!! Next trip!! We have booked w/ Wilderness Villas and I'm just as excited!! Beautiful resort and it's just a quick boat ride to the KINGDOM!!:cheer2:

You'll have a great time at VWL. We love that little boat ride to MK and your DD will have fun on that too. Swimming at SAB might be a little easier when she's older so look forward to it at a future trip!

Thank you so much for all your responses! I truly appreciate them. I never thought about the animals prefering the shafe during the summer months making the savanna view less "active". I guess the way I'm feeling is that we always stay at the Beach Club Villas and I was looking for a change but we;ve never used the pool area/Stormalong Bay that maybe we should try to get ressies there and actually enjoy the pool.....I also never thought too much about the transportation benefits of staying at VWL. The boat ride th MK sounds enticing too. Maybe I will call member services tomorrow and see what still available.....

Oh the decisions.......
