We were hoping to go to Disney for Thanksgiving week. There will be six of us and we were hoping to stay at Old Key West in a 2 bedroom. I realize this is last minute, but we have a credit on Southwest that we would like to use so therefore I am trying to plan this trip. Well sure enough all the DVC resorts are booked Nov 22, 23, & 24. We are looking at going Nov 19 -24. We are on a wait list...but I am not very hopeful of anything opening up. I am so disappointed...i wanted to bring our family "home".

We would be willing to stay at a disney resort other than DVC, but I know there are no 2 bedroom units like the DVC units. Because of the combination of people going...DH, myself, DD(20), DS(17), my mother (83) and a good family friend (51)... we are not interested in 2 studios.

My question to everyone is where could we stay off property that would have a similar room set up as a 2 bedroom at DVC. Any and all suggestions and ideas would be very much appreciated.

Thank you

If you go to Travelzoo.com there is a very good deal in their top 20 this week for Thanksgiving/Christmas at a new resort in Orlando. It would not be the same set-up as a DVC, but it may be worth looking at.

We have stayed at the Sheraton Vistana and our rooms were very nice. They are also very close to Disney. Not sure what the cost would be, but there is a link on the DIS home page. Just a thought.

Thanks starbox...I didn't see the Thanksgiving special, but I did see a link to the vacation homes and that is something I should probably look into.

Btrim...I looked at the Sheraton Vistana website and that looks like it would definitely work for us. Thank you...were you happy with this place...did you have a 1 bedroom or two? I will look into it some more tomorrow.

We are leaving for disney this Saturday and I just don't have time to think about November right now. But we need to have a plan because as soon as Southwest opens up reservations for November we will be booking our flight.

Any other suggestions?

We actually traded into this resort with our Non-DVC timeshare. We traded a one-bedroom, but got a 2-bedroom. It was nice and big. Two full or queen (can't remember) in the second bedroom, couch made into a full/queen bed and the master bedroom had the king bed. We had several people with us and it seemed to work out well. No one felt crowded. My niece stayed here earlier than we did (II trade again) and she and the group she was traveling with really enjoyed the resort and all its eminities. I liked it because it was so close to Disney. If you know someone that owns an II resort and would check on trading in for you, you might pay them to use their week. It probably would be cheaper than renting yourself, although I have not checked into the cost, so I don't really know. Good Luck with your decision. I think you would like it there. It isn't DVC, but it was still very nice.
