Right now I have the Boardwalk booked, but I'm second guessing it. I'm not sure when our next trip will be after this one and I love the Magic Kingdom resorts more than the Epcot ones so I'm thinking of switching. But we will want to eat dinner at the Swan because of the Thanksgiving buffet. Will driving over there be hectic and we should stick with a hotel that we can walk? I'm also a little worried about Star Wars opening and if it does when I'm there I have no intention of going to that park to avoid that madness. We also might not have tickets, not sure yet since our passes will have expired. Should we stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge instead? I love that hotel, but always feel so isolated over there.

We just spent an amazing Thanksgiving at the Grand Floridian. All the decorations were up (lights, trees, gingerbread house, etc.) and the lobby felt festive and beautiful with the live music. We had a dinner reservation at Boma at AKL for our Thanksgiving meal which was great. I love the Beach Club, but the GF was above and beyond any other deluxe we have stayed at.

That sounds wonderful! When you left the hotel for your dinner reservation did you find the traffic to be bad or normal?

We actually went from Disney Springs because we left the GF mid-day to shop and walk around. We used the Disney bus (no car) and had no issues with traffic or getting around. We did bus to DS, then bus from DS to AKL. We got there early to enjoy the AKL lobby and a drink (gorgeous as well) and walk the outside area to see the animals prior to our 6 pm dinner reservation. We took an Uber back to th GF after dinner for like $11 and it was a quick, traffic-free ride.

Ok great so then traffic won't be that bad. I'd love to go to Jiko for dinner, but my husband's one requirement for me not cooking the dinner is he gets the traditional food lol. Thanks!!

They totally had turkey and all the trimmings at Boma. Many restaurants do, so definitely ask about that.
