where to stay for 1 night

i assume this is the best place to post this. we are going to DW in January, and we are staying onsite sunday - sunday. we will be flying down on saturday and need a place to stay for 1 night. don't care if it is near downtown disney or not. we will fly in, pick up a rental car, grocery shop and relax. leave sunday morning. we would like a heated pool, and somewhere to eat. that's it.

travel party will be me, DH, 3 DD's, my mom, my sister. will need 2 rooms or a suite. we just want this night to be cheap!! any suggestions??

We're doing the same thing, staying 1 night offsite for as cheap as possible before 7 nights onsite. I've narrowed our choices down to Howard Johnson or Rodeway Inn thru DU at $35/night or Magic Castle Inn thru http://www.magicorlando.com/v2/rates.php for $35 one room and $30 for the 2nd single room. We haven't stayed at any of these before so I don't have any personal experience/recommendations.

All of them have pools, are less then 5 miles to WDW and the few reviews I've gotten here recently are decent. Magic Castle Inn has fridges and free continental breakfast for all rooms which might be better for you since you're going grocery shopping. We're doing a split stay at WDW, won't have a rental car, and have PS for Boma breakfast the next morning so none of that is important to us. I'm leaning towards HoJo because I just found out my Days Inn rewards program includes this chain.

We have done the same things several times, and have always used Priceline for our extra night before and after.....have yet to be disappointed although I have done my homeowork on www.biddingfortravel.com.

You would be able to get 2 rooms for your family at a rate comparable to the hotels listed in the above post that are a 3* level.
