Where to stay for 1 night, Cont or GF??

Where should we stay for 1 night?

  • Keep existing reservation with Cont Tower Room

  • Switch to Grand Floridian Lagoon View for $100 more.

When we arrive at WDW, it will be our honeymoon night. We are booked at cont tower room right now, but i can now get us into the GF lagoon view. I have stayed at GF previously, but my fiance has not. Neither of us have stayed at Cont.

If you to pick for 1 night only, should it be Cont or GF??

Also, the price increase is another $100 for GF, bringing the 1 night stay to $413.

First of all.....CONGRATULATIONS! :goodvibes

Are you staying in WDW following this one evening? If so where?

That would influence my vote.

Yes, we are moving to Boardwalk for 2 nights, Wilderness Lodge for 2 nights, then Port Orleans Riverside for 4 nights following the first night there.

Then I think I would transfer to the GF! IMHO....It is very romantic  and you will love strolling the grounds with your new spouse! :goodvibes

Congratulations....enjoy your honeymoon...and we look forward to your trip report. Complete with all details of the honeymoon! ;)

I voted GF...we stayed there the first 2 nights of our honeymoon and it was so romantic :) However, is there a chance you can get a garden view instead of lagoon? The reason I ask is that it will save you $$ and we paid for a lagoon view but it really was not a great view...don't get me wrong, it was wonderful and we loved it but didn't think it was worth the extra money....now, our lagoon view plus castle view room at the Poly is a different story!....I think the GF is such a beautiful resort that there is not a bad view so next time we stay there we would not pay more for lagoon....have a wonderful honeymoon and congratulations!

That seems like alot of moving for a Honeymoon. Also what time will you get in town for that 1st night. Will you have time to really enjoy all that the property has to offer? For a $100 you could have a very romantic dinner somewhere in WDW.

It's been a long time since I went on a honeymoon... but I can tell you that strolling the grounds of a hotel was not a big priority that first night! :rotfl:

Personally... I would keep the CR tower room and request a view of the Magic Kingdom... seeing as you might be spending more time in your room than you might ordinarily... just saying... :bitelip:

Congrats!!!

ITA. I think you'll be in your room more than anywhere else. I know I would be!
Congrats!

stay at gf. contemporary is more kid friendly as the monorail runs right through it and it may not be as romantic as you would like it to be for the first night of your honeymoon. oh yeah ans congrats!!!!!! :thewave:

I like the GF better, but for one night and for more money, I wouldn't bother switching... stay and enjoy where you are!

I think the Contemporary will offer a nice contrast to the other 3 resorts where you are staying. With your $100 savings you can have a great romantic dinner at California Grill or take the monorail over to GF for a spa treatment. We just stayed at the Cont. and found the CMs to be very accomodating. Be sure to mention it's your honeymoon and they may do something special for you.

i would switch to GF lagoon view. the sound of the water and the magic kingdom sounds alone are romantic at night. you might even luck out and get a castle view -- i would definitely ask! we had a beautiful lagoon/castle view and we thought it was sooo romantic sitting on the balcony at night with a glass of wine -- and we had 3 daughters asleep inside! i can only imagine how romantic it would be on a honeymoon!! regardless of where you stay, have a WONDERFUL time, and congratulations!!!

Instead of just bumping your thread to the top why don't you give some feedback. Why are you looking to move? What time are you planning on arriving? What do you like in a hotel? romance, lively? Do you plan on doing the parks the first day? If yes what park do you plan on visiting? How old are you? Some older people don't like the modern flair of the Contemporary. Do you like a classic romantic hotel? Do you have the extra $$$ to spend on the GF? Would your money be better spent on a romantic dinner one night during your honeymoon? Opinions can vary greatly based on your likes/dislikes.

Congratulations!!! I personally would vote for the GF. I just think it is so romantic and elegant. It is DH and my type of resort. We honeymooned at the Poly 10 years ago and visited the GF. We couldn't afford it then and did we have resort envy! We will be at the GF for Christmas and can't wait.

I hope you have a terrific honeymoon wherever you stay!
