Where to stay before arrival in Florida?

We are driving from Canada and leaving next Thursday at around 5pm.

We have never done this and I hope to be in the South Carolina area the next day before noon.

We wanted to stay at HH but it is going to take over 50 points to stay just the Fri and Sat Night!! Any idea on why this is so many points for the 2 nights. Is there a better way to book this?

Any other ideas where we can stay on a nice beach for 2 nights before heading to OKW for the Sunday?

You might want to check over on the transportation board. I know that there is a sticky thread at the top about driving to Florida. They might give you some advice.

Sometimes the cash rate at HH is pretty affordable. We are stopping there on the drive back next trip and we are paying the DVC cash rate instead of points. They also have AP discounts so we will check for lower AP rates when they are released for the summer.

Friday and Saturday night points are always higher at all the resorts. I believe it is Disney's way of insuring that all the local DVCer's do not end up booking up the weekends on a constant basis from what I understand?? If you were to book an entire week stay including the weekend nights it's not so bad but if you were to always be booking only the weekend nights, your points get eaten up rather quickly As mentioned, check with MS about availibility with the DVC member discount or with CRO for an AP or discount code rate....those are the other alternatives to booking with points and often you can get a decent deal
