I have decided to part with the majority of my Cat's Meow Village collection. Mostly to raise $$ for Disney and another trip, but also because I no longer display it and it is just sitting in a box collecting dust. I checked on Ebay, both completed items and current listings. These things are going for just a few dollars a piece for most of them. Really not worth the effort for me to list them all separately (have 38 pieces). Anyone have any place else they have ever sold anything like this? Auction house or consignment store? Maybe through the local paper or want advertiser? I know I won't get full retail price, but I would like to get at least $5/piece for the larger houses and $2-3/piece for the accessory pieces. These things retail from about $6.50 for little pieces up to about $19 for the big houses. I am having a yard sale this spring, but experience has shown me that stuff like this doesn't sell for what I would like to get for it.. people are looking for a big bargain at yard sales (not that I blame them).

Or I suppose I could possibly try selling them as a "lot" on Ebay... but the shipping could be prohibitively expensive... these little things are rather heavy. I'm guessing the entire lot packed in a box with tissue would weigh about 20 pounds or more.

Anyhow... any suggestions? Thanks for any help............P

I feel your pain, believe me. Ebay has taken the "rare" out of most collectibles. Many eBayers are in the same boat as you. Unfortunately, making any kind of profit on eBay is becoming more and more difficult, if not next to impossible. Many times, sellers are lucky to just break even selling their collectibles. In reality, in order to unload it, they might need to take a loss... that is, if they even get a bid.. that is, if the bidder actually pays.

Sorry to be such a downer. I was around for eBay's heyday in the late 1990s and it was awesome. What is happening now, is pitiful, but was inevitable, I suppose.

I would suggest you try to sell your items in lots and do it sooner, rather than later. For heavy packages, I would suggest you try DHL for shipping. They are cheaper than USPS and in my limited experience with them, pretty reliable.

Good luck!
