Where to sell AG Doll Furniture: Amazon, Ebay, Craigslist, garage sale?

DD13 is cleaning out her room (yay) and we were accumulating items for a garage sale we are going to have next month. She has some American Girl beds, table, etc. and I've been looking on Amazon, ebay and craigslist to see what we should price them at, but wondered if any of you had sold your items and what way did you use? I've never sold on Amazon or ebay, but maybe it would be worth making an account for these things? I looked on Craigslist in my area and no one has sold any furniture so maybe no market for? If I put in a garage sale, I would price accordingly, but then people really expect garage sale prices. Also, maybe I should wait until closer to Christmas but really want to get out of the house now (and DD13 wants money now lol) Any advice? Thank you!

No advice on where to sell them but just wondering what furniture you daughter has. My girls are VERY into American Girl.

I want to answer you, but don't want to break any rules as if I'm trying to sell these here. Idk so maybe someone will chime in?

I think ebay would be a good choice. Either there or a moms forum, some furniture items are very sought after, so I think you could get a better price in a bid style sale.

good luck!

I always try Craigslist or the online yard sale page for my local area on Facebook. I sell on ebay sometimes but between the fees and shipping it's not my favorite way to get rid of stuff. If you're new to selling on eBay just be really careful to check your details. My sister once got stuck shipping a large toy to Hawaii because she hadn't specified conus only. It cost her much much more than she charged for shipping.

Garage sale for immediate $$. Craigslist for more $$$ but need to wait for buyers to respond to your ad, so will be perhaps a week or two.

eBay will probably get you the most money. When I sold my DD's AG stuff, I got a lot of low ball offers from CL. I sold the items on eBay for way more. I did bundle some of the clothing.

My DD just cleaned out her closet, too. We used an ebay seller in the area. We just put each complete outfit in baggies. They took pictures of everything. For sentimental reasons, she wanted to keep her doll and one outfit (the doll's arm was loose so probably wouldn't have gotten much). They divided it into three lots - clothes, armoire and bed. It sold right away and even with them taking a cut (not sure how much) she made about $300.

I would NOT sell it at a garage sale. People will not pay as much at one. I would post it o. Craigslist or on a facebook community swap. You will get more money and have to pay no fees.

So glad to see this posted. I've been considering the very same thing for 2 weeks now. My initial thought was not to do a garage sale b/c I wouldn't get as much for them. I think I could do better on CL or ebay. I'm leaning towards Ebay. I know people complain about the fees, but given the choice between that or CL, I think Ebay would be better. No one in my area had any AG things listed on CL recently, so I'm still thinking about how to price and whether to wait until Christmas or not.

I belong to a very nice AG message board where members can buy/sell. Please PM me if interested in the info.

Thank you for the responses! I have never seen a community facebook page and never heard of a local ebay seller. I really don't know if I want to ship them so may try CL first and put "FIRM" on the ad. I'll def nix the garage sale idea since I don't want a bunch of people trying to low ball. :)

If you have an upscale children's resale or consignment store they often sell AG items for you

Good luck!
Kim

I would also suggest Ebay - and if you can wait until early November even better. On Ebay people start buying for Christmas even earlier than in b&m stores :thumbsup2

This! People will try to lowball you like crazy at a Garage sale and on Craigslist! You won't get many bites for what you want for them. I would try listing them as a "Buy it Now" with a best offer on eBay to start to see how it goes. Now is a TERRIBLE time to list anything on eBay at auction. eBay goes through a "summer slump". I've seen things go for WAY WAY during the summer than they would during the fall/winter.

I also belong to the AG doll forum...another nice option!

Def not going to do at garage sale now but still might list on CL to see if I can get what I'm asking for. If not, I think I may try that doll forum or eBay. Just never have sold on eBay so would entail a lot more effort on my part. :)

NO< NO< NO. If it is furniture, it is big which is a pain to ship. Your best bet would be to find your local yard sale page on facebook and post it there. 1. you will not have to worry about ship. 2. you will get more than at a garage sale. 3. it weeds out all the craigslist weirdos. That is your best option. Believe me, I sell on ebay, craigslist and facebook. Facebook is your best bet.

I've looked but pretty sure we don't have one for Bozeman. :(

Should have asked your opinions before, but I just posted on CL last night and put the table and chairs and beds in "toys and games" instead of "baby and kids". Seemed like there were just a bunch of listings for clothes in the "baby and kids" category. There is also a "Collectibles" category, but I never look there so thought there would be more people looking in "toys and games". Should I change it?
