Hi!! Me and my DS will be staying in a one bedroom at Jambo House in October. I don't expect a view of the animals, but is there anywhere you can go to see them at AKL without being in a room?

there are a couple of viewing areas outside - walk straight through the lobby, down the stairs and out the back for one. follow the signs to the other (can't remember the name but suspect someone else will...where is lisas?)

there is also a minilobby or something off the main lobby - a sitting area with a view of the savanna (pretty sure it had a balcony also)...

Thanks guys!! We've extended our stay during F & W fest, and AKL was one of the alternatives since we couldn't extend our BWV ressie. I'm excited now to try a new DVC resort!

Right outside some rooms are benches like this-

Last year I used to drink my coffee and see animals from here every morning although my room (across from the bench) was pool view.

By the Jambo pool there is a flamingo pond and toward the left towards the other hot tub they have another area and off of the lobby is another area. Kidani Village is another villa about 5-10 walk and there is another area to watch.

There are so many places to see the animals, I think it would be hard NOT to see any by just walking around outside.

As mentioned earlier, the flamingos was one of my kids favourite spots.

Yes, there are plenty of spots to just sit or stand and watch, especially outside the lobby. You really can't miss them when you're out wandering and checking out the resort.

Don't forget to check out the animals at night outside using the night goggles! Such a neat experience!

if you are standard view - pool - at Jambo house - on the second floor is a balcony with telescope. you can see several animals from here.

also along all the hallways - there are big windows to see from.

plus back on the second floor out the lobby - there is a big display area - where there are some guides to help you.

you don't need a savannah view to see the animals at AKL - now not sure about Kidani.

I have never stayed at Jambo, only Kidani, and I can tell you that at Kidani there are SO many places to see the animals. We had a savannah room, so we watched them mainly from there, but we could see them pretty much every where we went -- while waiting for the elevator, walking down the hallway (between buildings), in the lobby. It's really wonderful.

Have a great trip!

When walking the hallway to my savanna room, I often got distracted and found myself standing at a window looking at the animals. There is a large balcony off of the lobby area with rocking chairs that would have wonderful viewing of the animals.

At night, just beyond the jacuzzi at the pool, there is night vision viewing the animals. There CM's there that give you night vision googles and point where to look. I was surprised to see animals I didn't even realize were there and I always thought I had pretty good night vision.

Here's a map of Jambo House. http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/DAKLMap.pdf The viewing areas with the rocking chairs are located the pink areas on each side of each side of Arusha Rock but are lobby level.

Someone mentioned the lobby, and it reminded me about this one-

It's the Sunset savannah lounge, just past the check-in counter, beside/behind the DVC desk. It's a great place to sit and watch the Sunset Savannah. I took these pictures from there-
