Sorry if this belongs on the DVC thread!!!!

Just booked a studio and had no idea what to request. They suggested I take Millers Road. Is this too far from everything??? We don't have a car. Thanks for the help!!! :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

There is an internal bus that will move you around. That being said, I like South Point--nice quiet pool, second bus stop. The rooms here have not been updated yet though, so you may encounter some problems.

patsal - is there any way of finding out what has been updates at OKW??? Planning on staying in a studio the first few days of Oct. and would like to know which areas have been done.

TIA!!!! :teeth:

They have recently finished the biannual updates....all units now have new sofas (and they are the coolest sofa beds ever!!) other than that I don't think much has changed....no new decor, just updates on the same ones....

As for location, it seems to me like everyone that goes to OKW has their own favorite location (which is good, since it is much easier to give everyone what they want that we)....personally we prefer Peninsular Road (Buildings #23-27) area....short walk to community hall, lobby, restaurant and pools, boat dock etc, nice views of the golf course and right by the first bus stop (can always get a seat in the AM and first drop off in the PM)

South Point and Millers Road are also nice....they have quiet pools right there which is handy. Buildings #45 and 46 are farther from bus stops, pools etc, but right on the canal and so the views from the porch/balcony are really lovely.

Almost any location is fine there.

We DO NOT like Miller's Road. It is the next to last to be picked up and the next to last to be dropped off. We like Pennisular Road, walking distance to the main pool, Store, and first bus stop. :)

We've stayed in Southpoint, Old Turtle Pond and Pennisular Road.....the latter was the closest to the lobby/restaurant/gift shop/main pool. But we liked all the sections. We usually request "water view" on our ressies and have gotten great ones every time. Some prefer "golf view". I think OKW will do their best to accomodate. Southpoint was the quietest section and from our balcony we kind of felt like we were in the wilderness. It was bldg 45 and the view was off a wooded area and the canal. Saw lots of different birds there.
Disneycrazed, I had read a somewhat recent TR about a studio stay in the Southpoint area where the poster wasn't happy. They said their view was of a bus stop and they could hear traffic coming off the main road. I don't recall which buidling they were in. You might be happier requesting "close to Hospitality House" area ? Good luck and have a nice stay !

We always ask for Old Turtle Pond. Great location close to the quiet pool and the snack bar.

Since OKW is a Disney Vacation Club resort they use a room ready room assignment instead of preassignment. You might want to wait until you arrive and ask what is available.

Turtle Pond and Pennisular are good locations. I find South Point to far removed from the main areas of the resort.

Thank you for all your help!!! I think I will call back and ask to be close to the Hospitality House....we will not have a car so we need to be close to everything. :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:
