Where would you request your room at the Grand Californian if you have 2 boys 5 & 8? We will be getting a standard room b/c it's the cheapest for our DVC points. We will be spending a lot of time at the parks. If you are close to the monorail, do you hear it?

Any suggestions welcome! Thanks!

Hello Mary-
Have not stayed at GC before but will be on the 13th. Will let you know what I discover as I will be traveling with my kids too. Hoping someone else more experienced than I can help you in the meantime. I usually stay at DLH so I am looking forward to this! Happy trip planning!

I had room 4101 and really liked it. It was over the lobby, and very close to the main elevators. We had a view of DL Hotel & PP Hotel, and could watch the monorail as it made the turn around the Grand Californian on its way to the DD monorail station. Also, the room has 2 queens & a daybed. Nice.

If you want a room near the monorail, then ask for a courtyard room. The monorail runs through the courtyard.

Was 4101 a standard room?

Hi,

Have any of you used the Concierge Level at either of these properties? We are planning to stay at either one in October 05 but I just can't split the two in terms of what two kids 7 and 5 might enjoy better??

all replies gratefully appreciated.

We had a standard view and I didn't want to look out over the entrance drive and road and parkinglots so I had heard about the "Monorail Courtyard" and requested that. It is a small courtyard with the monorail beam running through it. It is landscaped with flower and trees (the redwood trees have since grown very much) and was fairly quiet. Our room was conveniently located between the elevator to the lobby and the east elevator which takes you down near the restaurnats and the entrance to DCA. Some of the rooms on the other side of the courtyard would have a longer walk to the elevator lobby and a not so convenient walk to the restaurant elevator....not so convenient being relative as you are still closer than any other accomodation in Anaheim. :)
