Any other suggestions would be helpful besides a broker looking to profit off my contract.

You probably have already done this but I would simply ask family and co workers first. They might be interested or know someone in their own circle who might be interested.

eBay, AIRBNB. Owners are already doing this. You would be better off renting out a reservation through those sites rather than just listing your points as many are unfamiliar with how DVC works.

If you don't have the time to list on disboards, you undoubtedly don't have the time needed to check potential renters requested reservations if you list elsewhere. Unless you have a friend or relative who is also a DVC member and who wants a transfer, your best bet to minimize your time investment is a broker.

When you say you don’t have the time, do you mean you don’t want to wait the 6 months or whatever it is before you can list your points for rent? Or do you mean you don’t want the hassle of renting them yourself?

If the former, I believe you can pay like $50 to upgrade yourself so that you can immediately.

If the latter, then I’m not sure what to tell you. If you don’t want o do it yourself or pay for a broker, there’s not really any other option.

It is far less time to use a broker than it is to do it yourself, even if you ignore all the requests outside of your UY, the "VGF on 2 months notice!" and the AKV Value/Club requests.

My understanding is the $50 let's a member slide on the 50 post count but NOT the 6 month as a member.

Do you read it differently ?

I know the Brokers need to profit but they are paying 2-6$ less per point.

The brokers pay $2-6 less per point because they are dealing with all the renter communication, they're checking availability, they're explaining cancel policies, they're explaining that no, you won't get BWV Standard Studio on 3 months' notice.

And they often pre-qualify, so you aren't trying to make a reservation then not getting paid.

There has to be a financial incentive to deal with the headaches. Nothing wrong with that.

Here's a quick guide to the DISBoard R/T policies:

1) if you have not been on the DISBoards for at least 6 months - You may pay the $49.95 fee for the Gold level membership.
2) If you HAVE been registered with the DISBoards at least 6 months. but do not meet the posting prerequisite, you may pay the $24.95 for the Gold membership.
3) If you DO meet both the 6 month and posting criteria, you may use the board for no charge, like a Gold level member, but you're posting criteria will be reviewed before subsequent R/T threads are approved
4) If you want to post more than 2 pre-existing reservations during a 12 month period, or post reservations before the 30 day check-in date window, you will need to purchase the $199.95 Premium Level Plan. If you have not been registered for at least 6 months, you may not purchase the Premium level plan.

You also have the option of using a broker, like our sponsor, David's DVC Rentals. Note that most brokers pay a reduced rate or do not accept pre-existing reservations.

I hope you have received the answers to your questions about how/where to rent. For more info on our policies, please see the **How to Use This Board** sticky thread on the Rent/Trade Board.

Thanks.
