DH and I have been to WDW every year for the last 5 years and we bought DVC 2 years ago. We have just returned from the best trip yet and of course as I've got holiday blues I'm already looking at next years trip! The problem is is that DH is wants to do a cheaper holiday next year as we are saving for a deposit on a mortgage  We have been looking at doing an all inclusive in Cuba which I know that I would like but I think he will get bored, he is the sort of person that likes to be doing stuff all the time, he is totally not the relax on the beach kind. I can see us going to Cuba and in 2 days him moaning constantly that he is bored! The other thing is that fairly soon we might have kids which will put a stop to WDW for a year or two. Last night he said that we could go back to WDW but only if its cheaper, now I know that I can save money in some places and I'm happy to work extra hours to pay for it but then at the same time I think well if Im gonna work extra hours I could also put that money towards a deposit and that makes me feel guilty for wanting to spend it on a holiday. :confused3

So I'm asking you, what would you do?

Well my Mum loves Cuba but she is happy to do nothing.

Could you not do something closer to home to save money? France for example and you could still visit DLRP.

Had you thought about renting out your DVC points to make a bit of extra cash?

What about West coast USA, again you could visit Disney but still do other things and you can get some really cheap hotels or use your DVC points.

My Mum also loves Cuba however she is happy with a beach & pool. My Dad did found it boring though.

I think California is a good idea or Florida outside of Orlando as I think it is the park tickets and Disney food which add to the cost . You could also use your DVC points towards a Disney cruise to get a bit of Disney if you don't want to rent them out.

My vote would go to Florida without the parks and it will be nice to do some traveling around Florida before having children.

I don't think I could go to Florida and not go to the parks! :faint: We do want to do California but we would like to do LA, Vegas and San Francisco in one trip so would have thought that would be quite pricey. :confused3

I did that in 2005 and if you put the work in to searching the Internet you can get some good deals.

We did 6 nights in LA, 3 nights in Vegas, and 5 nights in SF. We flew between which was much much cheaper than hiring a car. We flew with United and I got the flighs direct with them, they were £350 each, which I thought was a great price.

I got a really good quote from this company http://www.americas4u.co.uk/ but then with a lot of internet searching did it cheaper myself. I never actually used them so can't comment but you could get a quote which would be an indication of what you'd have to pay.

I remember the 6 nights in LA cost about £120! 3 nights in Vegas at the Sahara was about £100. Can't remember how much SF was.

Lots of people on here have done west coast trips so i'm sure lots of people can help.

Thats brilliant Claire, thanks! :thumbsup2 I'm to have a look at that website now :goodvibes

I voted Cuba, we have a cheaper holliday every other year and its nice to relax a bit, disney can be a bit full on :rotfl2:

We did the west coast quite reasonably, easily the same price as we would have paid for the same number of nights in Orlando. San Francisco was a bit expensive hotel wise but other places we stayed in were cheaper so it all evened out :) I booked flights through Opodo in and out of different airports and hotels through a mixture of ebookers (cheapest at the time, not sure now) and direct. It was a great holiday and we can't wait to go back hopefully next year :goodvibes
