Hi! We are leaving next week for WDW  I just got the idea that I want to have a little date night for DH and I. I'm thinking maybe we could go somewhere next Thursday night for dessert, maybe an appetizer. (We will be going to MK that day, which closes at 7pm). My cousin in coming along and volunteered to babysit for us. Anyone have any ideas? Any recommendations for a great dessert place? Are there any resort restauraunts that are good places to see the fireworks at MK? I know it might be tough to get a reservation at this point, but any recommendations are greatly appreciated! Right now I have reservations for Kona Cafe at 830pm. Should I keep that?

If it matters, we are staying off site in Emerald Island.

Thank you!!!!

You can only see Wishes from a few places - California Grill, Narcoossee's, and 'Ohana (sort of). Only Cali Grill offers a "good view". Best option is to eat before hand and then go sit/stand on the beach of the Polynesian and watch it from there, which is the best angle (and they pipe in the same music as you hear in the MK).

Kona is nice, but not exactly "romantic". The Grand Floridian Cafe is another option we enjoy a lot. On the pricier side is Narcoossee's, Citrico's, or the Cali Grill.

I wouldn't worry about the fireworks and make an ADR at Citricos. The food and service are both incredible. Plus, it doesn't attract as many small children as other restaurants tend to. It's a beautiful place for a special date night. :wizard:

Kona is fine the food is great and it will be very relaxed at 8:30...
I do not think the have the fireworks next Thursday either way-- I will be there as well.. I think they are Saturday, Monday, wedensday and Friday If I recall (we are staying at Bay lake Towers)-- the best part of the POLY is the resort itself is by far the most romantic on Disney property. You can take a walk on the beach before or after dinner.... The best spot to see the fireworks is from the boat docks not the beach... there is a Hammock by sunset point but it is mine so stay off of it :lmao:
sadly I have not stayed there in a while as we now own DVC

if you have never eaten at Kona get the strip steak it is amazing...

Since you are not on the dining plan, I'd go to one of the Swan/Dolphin restaurants which are much much better than any of Disney's restaurants. You won't see fireworks but you'll get much better food at Shula's, bluezoo or Il Mulino.

Just wanted to thank everyone for their advice! We went to Kona and had a wonderful dessert! Kileula tort and white choc cheesecake were amazing! Excellent, fast service which gave us time to walk around the resort (just beautiful). We sat on the beach and watched the halloween fireworks. Really special and great for a night out. Thank you!
