I'm trying to get some ideas for our wedding cake. We want a Disney cake since our wedding will be at Disney, but we can't find any sample cakes to go by. Can you help us?

I suggest browse through every Disney wedding album posted in the sticky thread.

or

google

good luck! i think if you can dream it and afford it, they'll make any cake you want!

I see TwoJo posted the link to the unofficial site for you.. it's a good starting place, that's for sure!

Start printing out photos of the cakes you like, designs, patterns on the cake, etc., and take them with you to your planning session. The pastry chefs can do just about anything you want! The clearer your vision and the better you are able to delineate that, the better chances you have of getting what you want.

If you go to the DisneyLand wedding site (just google it) they have pics of the Disney Wedding cakes. I believe its under the entertainment tab.

*quickly adapts the tradition of having a groom's cake*

*drooool* mmm :cake:

lol. What have you and your fiancee picked out for a cake? I think we're going to do the chocolate kaluah cake. Have you looked at the menus? We have kind of made up our menu and sent it to Michele to see if she could give us an estimate on how much it would cost. When is your wedding Groomtb?

Here is a pic of our cake (the "Destination Castle" cake)...it was beautiful and very yummy :)

Katie - those cakes are AWESOME!!

Do you know if they would all be considered Whimsical or Mad Hatter? aka $980?

Do you think Disney would do one of those cakes as a two-tier and drop the price a bit??

we haven't got to that part of the planning yet lol...and our wedding's in March!!!....
but since it'll be a small crowd we'll just do a 2 tier cake and not go splurging on a $1000 cake... we could get tons of awesomely delicious small cakes for that price...we're picky too heh. Also we're going to see if Swan pastry chefs can make custom cakes using sample pictures, at a reasonable price. but whatever it is, it'll be with real fruit fillings.
Going to meet with Michele soon so we hope we can get questions answered about custom menu pricing and options and all that good stuff....

Depending on your guest list, $980 for a Disney cake and a large group isn't bad! Remember they charge you by the slice depending on the cake design and then a cutting and serving fee.

What I really want to see is when they take the cake into the back and *destroy* it! I saw it on the Food Network... they literally, and very unceremonously mind you, pull the fondant off and separate the tiers. One minute it is beautiful, the next *poof!* it's a heap of nothing!

Hey- I noticed the cake topper on one of your cakes. It looks like the same vendor I got mine from... I found her through the Knot. She has since sold the business, but I ave no doubt it is being run at her same high levels. I would recommend for anyone to look at her work if you're interested in a monogram topper.

Just a note on the cake destroying. I work in Banquets at a Historical Hotel (yes, I kept the college job for the weekends). I attend someone's wedding every weekend!
We don't destroy the cake, per se, BUT I do end up throwing the entire (or most of it) bottom layer of the cake out in the garbage. Oh yes, it is true, the wedding cake, right in the dump!!! So that is an advantage that Disney charges per person . . . so the cake is actually all used (maybe).
After serving weddings for the past 5.5 years, my biggest tip is to just serve cake for dessert. It saves you $$ and doesn't waste the cake! Opt for the dessert party instead!!

Oh, and if there are any other Behind the Scenes Wedding ?'s I can answer, ask away.
I am not Disney BHTS savvy, but I do know my stuff for your typical wedding. :cool1:
