Where to eat???

I'm taking my first ever solo trip to WDW this April for the Flower and Garden Show. No DH,DS or best friend; just me.

Can anyone recommend restaurants that are "solo" friendly. I don't mind eating alone. But I also don't want to "stick out" if you know what I mean. This is funny. With all the times I've been to WDW, and with all the restaurants I've been to, I've never noticed people eating alone.

Any advice and or suggestions will be appreciated.

The best resturaunt, I've found, for "blending in"when solo isSci-Fi. Eeryone is sitting, looking at the screen in the dark. I've found that at a variety of resturaunts, however, if you tell them you're solo when you check in and ask for a view of something to look at (I always say "Since I won't have a dining companion sitting across from me to make conversation with), they'll make sure you have a real nice view. I got a window seat at CG, a tank-side table at CR, a view of the show kitchen at Spoodles, and I've gotten a window seat every time at Chefs de France. Somehow, I've never managed to get on the porch at R&C, but last time I was glad-the wind really picked up and everyone came rushing back in. Surprisingly, character meals are good for "blending in"! Everyone's watching the characters, no one notices you. And I find it alot of fun to sit and watch the characters interact with the children. The characters are real good at picking up "cues", so Goofy and Minnie quickly learned just to give me a quick wave or hug as they went by at Cape May.

there are bars at beaches and cream, and britain's rose and crown.

the tables are big and the resturant will put you with other groups at
Biergarten, Epcot, Germany and (I think) Teppanyaki, Epcot, Japan.

there are tables for 2 at some of the restuarants (okay I don't remember right now) - I think Boma had a few?

but you might be surprised how many solo dinner are at WDW.

I always get the waitress who wants to match me with a single guy.....
so she places me directly in his sight. It somes times takes me a minute to realize this (okay sometimes I am slow) - but then I move....

there are more singles at WDW than you realize.

I'm glad to hear there are many solo dinners, as I'll be doing a lot of that in January. I'll definitely have to ask the host/hostess for a seat with a view so I am occupied while waiting for the food to arrive.

As for waitresses trying to pair you off with a single guy, I hope she was trying to set you up with someone dashingly cute! I wonder whether she's been successful in previous match-ups...

I definatly like the Character Meal suggestion especially since I always do one!!! I'll remember to ask for a seat with a view. But you know, I love WDW soooooo much, it really wouldn't matter. I love to watch my surroundings anyway. When DH and I are there we love watching the families with the small children just to see the expressions on their faces. Our son is 17 and he doesn't come with us as much. He's not the "WDW Nut" in the family; I am.

I have no idea. he wasn't dashingly cute - but wasn't a dog neither.

that said I am at Disney to enjoy Disney not to find any dates.

there are several waitresses that do this to me. I don't know if they feel sorry for me or the male. In this case it was definitely the male - he seemed so sad.

but I have learned the hard way the best way to enjoy Disney is to do it ALONE.

I ate at several restaurants on my last solo trip. My favorites were:
1) Rose & Crown...good seat, great service! Almost every server was super-friendly (even the ones that weren't mine).
2) Artist Point...because of construction, the view was obstructed, but very single-friendly.
3)Boma...took a little while for the waitress to warm up, but once I ordered a flight of wine, she knew where her tips were likely to come from!

Sadly, I was disappointed in Cape May Cafe. The server was definitely overburdened, the food was kinda "meh", and I got some looks from diners (luck of the draw on tables, I guess). My server got nervous at my writing in my notebook, and said, "Oh, hope there's nothing bad about me in there". I just smiled, and asked for a refill on my tea.

Also, the only "cold" treatment I got was on my last day at Kona Cafe. I was seated by the kitchen, had several of the waitstaff brush me on their way past, and was spoken to rather abruptly by my waiter, then mostly ignored. There was another single woman seated on the other side of the room, and I noticed she wasn't paid too much attention, either. Sad for him, though, for I usually tip VERY generously for friendly, prompt service.

Was treated very well at the Territories lounge in WL, but ignored at Victoria Falls Lounge at AKL...go figure. Liked Francisco's (?) at CSR, too.
