Where to eat when hopping from MK to DHS

THe first day of our trip happens to be the only day of Fantasmic during our stay. We always hit MK on day 1 because there is nothing more "Disney" than MK. The question is...where do we eat dinner? WE are on DDP so we want to use 1 TS credit. We have 3 kids and my in-laws to worry about travel-wise, so the easier, the better!
1 - Should we eat at MK? Where and what time do you suggest?
2 - Should we head back to our hotel (WL) and eat there? Take the boat from MK, then the bus to DHS after dinner.
3 - Should we eat at DHS? What's the easiest way to get to DHS from MK?

I was originally planning option 2 and eating at the Whispering Canyon Cafe...but I think it works better for us to do that the night of our Pirates and Pals cruise which leaves from the Contemporary. Help is appreciated!! THANKS!

I'd say eat at WL or DHS. Theres no transportation straight from MK to DHS, so you'll need to go to a resort inbetween no matter what. I think you'd have to eat pretty early to eat at MK, so it might be more relaxing to head out of MK, do dinner at WL or do dinner at DHS so you're there with plenty of time before Fantasmic. Perhaps you could do WCC that night and then do something at the Contemporary (Chef Mickeys, The Wave) before the pirates cruise.

We had a MK -> DHS day when we went. We took the monorail from MK to Contemporary and took a bus from the Contemporary to DHS. I had that transportation app on my iTouch and that was what it suggested-worked perfectly!

As for dinners I would choose somewhere at DHS so you don't have to rush from MK-> Dinner-> DHS. I know a lot of people bash Sci-Fi but we have eaten there twice and it is one of my son's faves! (he is 8). Plus it is a nice quiet place so if you have had a fast-paced day and will stay later with Fantasmic it might be a nice break for all of you.

I know a lot of folks also like Prime-Time OR of you are really wanting to make sure you get a good seat for Fantasmic you can do Hollywood and Vine buffet and you might be able to get a Fantasmic dinner package there if they are not all booked.
