We'll be at MK the week of April 5th-11th. We're not on the DDP, and I haven't figured out where we should eat at. I'd be interested in both the best counter service as well as the best table.

I'd like to avoid being stuck with generic foods (ie, not limited to chicken nuggets, hotdogs, pizza).

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Hi,

If you are planning a table service meal you should book it ASAP. The week you will be at WDW will be very busy.

My favorite CS at MK is Cosmic Rays because you can get roasted chicken, ribs or a turkey wrap. Of course they also have the usual assortment of typical CS foods. The chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and green beans is very large and can easily be shared.

We love Crystal Palace for table service.

Counter Service is Cosmic Ray's.

I know that many people disagree with me ---- But there really isn't a table-service restaurant in MK that we think is anything special. We do like Cosmic Ray's for counter service.

If we want table service when we're at MK, we'll hop the monorail to Kona Cafe at the Poly. There are other choices at the monorail resorts, but we like that one.

But, even though the monorail ride isn't too long, it will still take longer to go to one of the resorts.

has a large variety of food. Colmbia Harbor house has soup and sandwiches that tend to eb a little different from the norm. Both are CS locations. The Plaza is a sandwich and ice cream shop that is a TS.

Second your opinion.

We will be at WDW from March 16- 25th and we have 2 days planned for MK during that time. The first day we are doing CS meal for lunch and would like to try Pecos Bills...don't know why but I was on the Food Porn site and they showed some entrees and they looked sooooo good :) . Then on our second day we have ADRs for Tony Town Square (also our first time trying) for a late lunch/very early dinner. However, I also do agree with the PP that said to try one of the monorail resorts for lunch/dinner. You have so many choices to choose from.

Thanks everyone! We're staying at SOG, so the Poly is on our way "home" from MK. I figure we can grab food there too, but would like to have some solid options for lunch-time in MK. I'd prefer to avoid making an ADR, but wasn't sure about which CS places were worth the money. I'll check out those listed.

I appreciate your help, folks!

You have two good options... maybe three... if you want counter service. The Columbia Harbor House is much like a Captain D's but with a nice atmosphere. It also features a (usually) quiet upstairs with a great view over Liberty Square and Frontierland. Cosmic Ray's offers a nice selection and is your standard fast food fare, but features an animatronic show ala Chuck E. Cheese, and an unlimited condiment / garnish bar. A third option is El Pirata y el Perico, but it is only open seasonly to accomodate larger number of guests - if it is open, it offers an excellent taco salad with unlimited extras to put on the salad. A final mention is Casey's Corner, which offers hotdogs... the only reason I mention this counter service is because it can be ideal at night when watching the fireworks or parade since you can grab a table outside and they have free cheese dip (it's basically nacho cheese) to go along with your fries or dog.

For table service, the Liberty Tree Inn is a very nice spot. The Crystal Palace is a character buffet, but is still very nice as well. Both places will require reservations. You can already mark off the restaurant in Cinderella's Castle... and regardless, you're probably not missing much.

Hope that helps - make sure to stop by Adventureland and grab a Dole Whip!

For counter service I would go with Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe and for table service I would go with Liberty Tree Tavern.

Also last month when I went to the Magic Kingdom with 3 of my friends from Orlando I tried getting an ADR for lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern, although I was told none were available. However we were able to go as walk-ins and waited 5 minutes for a table, so anything is possible and if you don't try going as a walk-in you never know what a Cast Member might tell you.

we like LTT for TS lunch (turkey dinner)

and for CS, Pinocchio Village House (pizza)

We really enjoyed LTT, the burger was one of the best I've ever had and DBF got the pot roast which was really good. So good that I had to find the recipe online and make it at home because he always said my pot roast wasn't so great.

I'll go Cosmic Ray's for counter service and Crystal Palace for table service, we really loved it.

Have a safe trip coming. :)
