Hello All! New to the Boards. Starting reading last night and many people say the best place to stay is the Vacation Club hotels and that they rent other peoples points. How do you find this? Where? I tried ebay, but only listed one or two.... any suggestions? Thanks

The really big thing about renting points is "trust" between you, and the DVC person that owns the points. The one suggestion is that you have a signed contract between the two of you spelling out exactly the cost, specific due dates for monies, and cancellation policies/penalties for you. I have rented my points out several times very successfully, but again for it to be successful "trust" is necessary for both parties envolved and a good well documented contract.

Thank you both for all your great advice. I agree 100% about the trust issue. It is scary to hand over that amount of money, fly from Calif. to Florida get off the plane with the kids and then find out you have nowhere to stay.

Will have to research it a bit more.
Have a great weekend.

You might want to ask friends, co-workers if they own DVC. I found out there were a few people at work that owned and I rent from one. I see her all the time and it has been wonderful. She also was cheaper than ones I saw online.

People have posted on the DVC boards about David's Vacation Club Rentals. His website is dvcrequest.com
If you search those boards, you should be able to find the threads.

He acts as the middle man between DVC owners who have points to rent, and people who want to rent those points. I have never used his service.

We went with Davids.......no trust concerns, no tracking somebody down with the number of points you need, no hassles, no sitting on 3 way calls to make sure the person is truly making a reservation.

Its not any harder than booking a regular hotel online.

Now, you'll pay a couple dollars more for each point. But for the amount of points we needed and wanting a "hassle-free" way to get your reservations completed, I would recommend him. It was literally booked from beginning (initial request) to end (able to confirm the reservation at the DVC website) was less than 24 hours.

I haven't rented out my points before, but it I did it, I would either rent only to friends/family, or use David's service. It would be very difficult for me to rent to a stranger when dealing with large sums of money.

Do your research and be well-informed.

I have some points that need to be used before August...maybe I could help you out.

Is there a particular reason you've decided to circumvent the board's rules on posting points for rent? A PP gave several good links for info about renting DVC points including the DISBoards' policies.

:confused3 She is not placing an ad which would consist of list a price on this thread she just stated she can help PP out so I don't see what the issue is. The DIS has a whole board devoted to rent/trade of DVC points http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=29 where people are listing ads for renting or trading of points.

The only thing the PP can not do is sell her DVC ownership on the DIS boards but you can rent out the points.

Hello,

I have a 7-night reservation booked at BLT in a one-bedroom and unfortunately, I will not be able to use it.

The problem I have is that to book this vacation, I borrowed points from my next use year and for the rest of the points, I rented points from another member.

My understanding is that because I rented points from a member, I cannot rent these points because of the limit of one transaction of this type, per use year.

Do I have any options? I know I can't bank the points (255) and am curious if I can switch the reservation to someone else.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jerry

The Time Share Store also has points available for rent at $12 a point.

I think that if the points are at a reasonable rate it can make or break it for a large family going to Disney!!! I love this idea.

Sadly a few of the companies that buy the points from members raised their prices and while it may not seem like a lot it priced me RIGHT out of being able to go ... but most sellers directly have reasonable rates.

Hoping to do it this way for my honeymoon/family blending celebration next May!
