Where to buy cheaper clothes for American Girl Doll?

If you have a Big Lots near you, I just bought some really cute sets today that fit the AG for 7.00 each. One set I bought even came with "ugg like" boots.

I also second checking etsy.com. Lots of talented crafty people sell there. Some are members here, but are not allowed to advertise on the Dis.

My DD has lots of matching doll outfits I made her. I tried to buy her a set today at Kohls and she said she would rather I just make one for her LOL.

Kmart also had a line of matching clothes.

Friendship Kids Friends Forever from Big Lots fit.

B.F.C. Ink from KMart do not fit.

My Disney Girl from disneyshopping.com Tinkerbelle costume fit.

Michaels, AC Moore and Joann's all carry the Springfield line. My Michaels has a very small selection, Joann's has the most clothing, and AC Moore has clothes, some gift sets with 2 outfits (which are $19.99, but used a coupon today and got 2 outfits for $9.99) and a selection of furniture. Really cute bed and armoire and vanity set. You can get a good deal with the coupons. I will say that I have not put the clothes on the dolls yet (this Xmas will be my dd's first AG doll). I also got a couple of ballet outfits and pjs on ebay that are really cute. So much fun!

BJ's has matching girl/doll clothes. I picked up some cute pj's for my dd and her AG doll.

Saw several girl and matching doll sets at Kmart yesterday (not BFC) on sale from 7.50 to 12.99. They had dresses and nightgown sets.

Saw some matching girl/doll outfits at TJ Maxx this week. They were in the regular rack mixed in. Not sure what other sizes they carried but I was looking at size 4. The 2 styles we noticed were dressier styles and I think the set was around $15. My daughter wanted them and we don't even have a doll yet!

I went today to Sears and got my dd 2 of the Dollie and me dress sets for get this.....$6.99 a piece. I about fell over. All of the dresses were 50% off, I found one on clearance and I assumed the 50% wouldn't work because it was on clearance but the other dress was on the regular rack for $34 so I figured that would cost me around $17. I will definately be going back to buy clothes there, they were really cute and seem to fit the AG dolls well, my dd came home and dressed her My American Girl doll as soon as we walked in the door.

I also wanted to add that we have tried Our Generation and the doll clothes from Michaels and liked both, obviously not the same quality as AG but they work for us :) We also have a couple of princess dresses from My Disney doll and I find those to be pretty snug on AG dolls.

MIL has purchased some outfits from Constructive Playthings, both in store and online. Some of them are super cute, some of them not great, but not bad either. She also ordered a wardrobe and it's not that bad either.

I was just looking at these in the catalog they sent. DD wants the sports outfits. Do the shoes from this line fit AG dolls? I assumed yes, but after reading this thread about the Target shoes not fitting I don't want to assume any more.

Also, I found a woman on Etsy that makes tie dye dresses for girls with matching T-shirts for the 18" dolls.

Did you need a coupon at Sears, or was the 50% off a one day only? I'd like to run over there today.

I got dd an AG and My Disney Girl doll for Xmas. I was measuring them against each other today...the AG is a tiny bit taller and a bit wider than the Disney doll.

Also, I had ordered a nightgown for dd/doll from Kohls and it came today. It is adorable and very soft. Brand is St. Eve. It is this one and looks even cuter in person

Heather, our Rebecca is currently wearing the Purple...workout?? outfit. I think its workout. Jacket, pants and a pink t-shirt. The pants were a bit tight to pull over the butt, but otherwise it was fine. The dresses all seem to be fine as does the jacket. We have a nightgown and I'm not sure what else.

With one of the outfits, I think the purple one, comes white lace up shoes. I had to put them on, but they do fit.

Hi Shari - welcome to the DIS boards...just an FYI....you are not allowed to sell things on the DIS boards.

I suggest you check out Emily Rose @Home. We carry high quality clothes and furniture for 18 inch dolls (like American Girl) at more affordable prices.

I scored big at my local Gymboree. The up to 7lbs fit the bitty baby and the 0-3 month fit my dd's AG doll. You have to watch their clearance racks. She got a onsie (3.99) and pants (5.99) this weekend. A few weeks ago she got a ton of AG stuff for 3.99 during the Big Red Balloon sale.

Any clothes around that would fit a Bitty Baby? I scored one at a yard sale and will be sending it to the Doll Hospital for an eye replacement...LOL...then giving it to DD earlier than expected.

I'm curious too.
This thread is great!!!! For AG dolls.... but what if you have a bitty baby in your 'family'? LOL
