Hi DVC family!

We are fast approaching the 7 month booking window for the 1st leg of our split stay. As of right we we have two rooms at CCV for 5 nights and 7 nights at Jambo in a GV. We are locked for the Jambo GV (not going to move that reservation) but we are considering moving our CCV stay to another resort we haven't stayed at before. This first leg will be from Late June through the 4th of July 2024 and we'll likely be making at least a few theme park visits at MK, Epcot, and HS during this first leg.

A few details to note.

The group size is 10 people so we need at least 2 good size rooms or a GV.

We have stayed at the following WDW resorts so far, CCV, Riviera, Kidani, and SSR. Do we stay where we love (CCV)? Do we book a theme park GV at BLT and see why people love it? Do I see if I was wrong about VGF and check it out? Perhaps go old school and a GV at OKW? And of course considering cheating on my Riviera and checking out Beach Club or Boardwalk.

If you had a budget of up to 600 ish points, where would you stay? This would be a Sunday to Thursday night stay. We'll jump over to Jambo on the 5th of July.

Although we have a much smaller party, I would look now to see what's available. You probably have more options with the bigger room type. I see a lot of places (Riviera, BLT, GF, BC) with no availability for 7/3-7/4.

Interested to see what people suggest.

Agreed - this information might be what forces the decision. It might be very limited what the OP can actually get at 7 months in the way of 2 decent-sized rooms or a GV. My mind immediately went to the GV at OKW - among the nicest and most spacious GVs on property, and a room that might be available at 7 months. You won't have easy park access, but the boat ride to DS for some dining, drinking, shopping options is really nice! And if you get 'stuck' staying at CCV? Not the worst thing!

Availability will likely be an issue for many rooms. Moreover, be aware of an issue that one can face for rooms shown as available at 7 months out from June 27 and still open through July 5. What often happens is that many rooms that are still open then, will disappear 7-months out from June 28 and 29 for time through July 4 and July 5, i.e., many book through July 4 or 5 beginning June 28 and 29 with the result that a lot less may be open come 7-months out from June 30.

GVs with best chance of being open are Kidani savanna view and SSR preferred booking category. BLT GVs will likely disappear for at least July 3 and 4 before end of this November and it is likely other GVs will not be open for all the days you want.

I would hands down book a BLT TPV GV. We've had MK fireworks views before (from standard and lake view regular rooms) and I think for 4th of July that would be the best villa by far. I think the bigger issue is going to be availability on that night. Depending on whether the rooms are being refurbed, you may have some chances if people want to wait until 2025 for the TPV GV.

My second choice would be VGF GV (or 2br). again, so points heavy that there may be availability. These rooms were recently refurbished and there are great views no matter what, so long as you don't get the dreaded 2br LO that includes 1221.

Well DVC family today was "judgement" day. I must confess this was a very hard decision. I decided to try and go for two 2BR units to make sure our friends that were joining us would have some privacy and a room that locks for at least half of their 14 night trip to the madness.

I went for Beach Club first and was able to secure a single 2BR but had no luck with the other one. I then went for BWV and had success. BLT was a close runner up and we were also tempted to just extend our CCV stay. Riviera would have also been an awesome pick, but some of the points I wanted to use are "dirty" resale points so....

I'm sure we are going to love BWV. It's an iconic resort, great location and I my opinion of it went up quite a bit during our last visit and a magical experience at Flying Fish.

And you should be in refurbished villas, too! Enjoy!

Will you be doing Epcot for the 4th?

The MK 4th fireworks are unreal. Still thinking about them coming from like 5 different locations, and that was ~20 years ago.

More than likely. MK on the 3rd and Epcot on the 4th. There is a chance we sneak over to riviera and do dinner and enjoy a beverage on the terrace and watch from there. Although not totally as much as she used to, @MrsNVDISFamily doesn't love crazy crowds. We did that in 2022 and it was awesome. We also totally lucked out and did MK on the 3rd and Epcot on the 4th not knowing those were the right order and the days they do the special fireworks. Our WDW skills are a bit better now :)

Disneyland. That’s a place where my family is convinced I could navigate around blindfolded on a pogo stick.

MK 3rd and Epcot 4th is definitely the way! Best of both worlds. And to be at BW and be able to walk back and avoid the huge skyliner crowds will be a huge plus.

I was in a GV lake view on the fourth of July in 2022. Loved the fact that we were able to see the Epcot fireworks from our room.
The GV is spacious and confortable. And the 10 minutes walk to MK is a plus.

Staying at BCV 4th week. What parks/days views do yall recommend for best fireworks?
Or just mosey out to the boardwalk?
