DH & I will be in the area from a Sunday to Friday next month. Are there any unique towns/cities in the area to spend a week? It needs to be within a reasonable driving distance to Marshall.

We're hoping for an area that has good restaurants & evening entertainment. DH will be working during the day, so we won't be doing any daytime touring, except possibly Sunday. We've been to Kalamazoo & would return, if that's the best option. I'd like to find a hidden gem though.

Marshall! My son once had a baseball tournament in Battle Creek. We stayed near Marshall and went there for some meals. It is very quaint. The Main Street had plenty of dining options.

Dark Horse Brewing may suit, although I would recommend checking online beforehand as we've not been since before the pandemic and the hospitality industry hasn't quite recovered in many ways. For that very same reason you may not find a lot of what you're looking for in Marshall and may be better off revisiting Kzoo for more options. You can also look into Battle Creek and Jackson, which is about half an hour or so away. Sandhill Crane Winery near Jackson used to be quite enjoyable, but haven't been there in a while either so definitely would recommend doing research beforehand.

Thank you both for the suggestions. I'll use them to do more research. It's good to have a place to start.

It's too bad that Covid is still having a negative effect on so many cities. Unfortunately, we've noticed that in a lot of places we've visited.

You might want to have lunch or dinner at Schuler’s https://schulersrestaurant.com/. This restaurant has been there for more than 100 years. Very well known in Michigan.

If you enjoy a casino, Firekeepers Casino/Hotel is about a ten minute drive from Marshall. It’s a very nice casino. 😁
Thanks for the restaurant suggestion. I'll keep it in mind. We enjoy restaurants with a history.

We passed by that casino the last time we were in the area. It did look very nice. I'm sure DH will want to spend at least one evening there.
