We are getting married in just over a month and have to decide what we do with the cake. Our day looks like this:

2:30 SBP ceremony
4:00 buffet dinner
8:00 dessert party

Do we serve it at the ceremony but might be hot and take up photo time, serve it at the buffet but will it look odd as there are no other desserts served or serve it at the dessert party when have lots of desserts already?

What do you think?

I voted for... at the buffet!!

I think this would be the best one. And not because it's what we're doing!! But we're not having a dessert party. Just the ceremony at SBP at 10, then brunch from 12-2. We will have a cake cutting at ceremony, just for pics.. then we will serve the cake after brunch.

Reasons for you.. already have enough desserts at DP, like you said. Ceremony will be hot outside... so after brunch it is!! :thumbsup2 lol

Hope you figure out something!

I also vote for the buffet. Since there are no other desserts...your cake cutting/serving will fit in perfectly.

Best wishes!

I also agree with the buffet. People like to have something sweet after they eat - and this way you're cake will stand out rather than being just one of the other treats at the dessert party. I've been to many weddings without other desserts other than the cake and I've never heard anyone complain. We're doing cupcakes for our reception without anything else and then an ice cream dessert party in the evening.

While the reasons to having it at the dinner are very resounding, the uniqueness that is having it at the DP is something that just is what the Disney experience is. We are having our cake at the DP for many reasons but I think the one that stood out the most was doing something that guests at our wedding aren't used to. Sure, doing a Disney Destination wedding is unique enough, but giving them experiences throughout the wedding that aren't so traditional breaks a barrier between a "cookie-cutter" wedding, and your personalized wedding. That isn't a statement to downplay any other wedding out there, by all means, it's just being different.

I voted for the buffet for some of the reasons already stated by others. :cheer2: If you do decide to have it at the DP, ask your planner about timing. I could be wrong, but I was told there is a max of time allowed for the cake to sit out. I originally wanted to have the grooms cake out at our DP. During our PS we found out that it would not have been able to be out that long. :confused3

I voted for SBP, here is my reasoning. This is what we did, and it worked out well.

We all had a late breakfast, but didn't have time for lunch before the ceremony. That being said once the ceremony was done we were pretty hungry so the cake was nice to tide us over before dinner. Our dinner was at 5:30, I know you said yours is at 4 so I understand the hour and a half difference might be just that, the difference maker.

Also for us we had Minnie and Mickey show up at SBP, so it was nice to cut the cake with them there. If we would have cut it at dinner they wouldn't have been there with us so we would have missed some photos.
