Where should my home resort be if I alternate between Disney and Europe.

I am looking to buy into DVC and I'm not sure what resort to buy into. My wife and I love Wilderness Lodge & Villas but would we get a better deal buying into SSR. ALso we typically go to Europe every couple of years. Does the point system translate into good deals in Europe?

Thanks for your help!

Ummm.... the 2 facts are unrelated. Just decide where you want to stay in Disney- Europe has nothing to do with it. Even if you are going to use your points to trade out for a European Vacation (Big Ben, Parliament..), your home DVC Resort will have no bearing on that.

You'll only get good value out of your points if you use them primarily at the DVC resorts. Trading out (i.e., for a resort in Europe) is best looked at as a once-in-a-while thing. There are other timeshares that you can use in Europe that are much cheaper than DVC, especially if you buy resale.

If you want to vacation in Europe every other year, and at WDW every other year, then your best bet is to buy only enough DVC points to cover your vacations at WDW, and either pay OOP for your European trips, or look into other timeshares.

Buy the points you'll use at DVC and look at other options for Europe. You might look at systems like Sunterra, Hampimag, Club Cordial or just buy something you can use directly most of those European trips.

I agree, it may be worth buying only the points you need for every other year, then renting a villa or apartment in Europe.

I have had some worthwhile trades to Europe - eg. Four Seasons Portugal, and some not so great ones, such as a very nice place in Spain, which would have been much cheaper paying cash.

I don't use DVC to exchange in Europe anymore, although I'd seriously consider four seasons again. Just work out what points you would need for your trip every other year, and buy those. If you feel you need more later on, you can always add on.

Do you like SSR?...When do you tend to travel to WDW?...If you aren't picky and fairly flexible go with a SSR resale, or if you only want VWL check resale but also check with DVC(since you might get current year points too). Good luck in your decision.
