Hello again,

we are in the World (yay!!) visiting with DH, DD, and my Dad. He has never been to Disney before. I have a few ADRs but I would like to take my Dad out for a father/daughter meal, and I'm wondering what would be a good place to take him - for someone who has never been to WDW before. I have been here before, but am not wildly familiar with a lot of the newer restaurants.

I would like to take him someplace that is great for the atmosphere (we already hit T-Rex cafe yesterday :) and maybe for visuals as well. Something he'll really enjoy for both the food and the experience. (Coral Reef??)

Any and all recs would be appreciated!

If you're looking for a signature restaurant I like Citrico's and the Flying Fish Cafe. California Grill has excellent food & service but it's somewhat loud and although the view is terrific you don't always get a seat with a view. Have a wonderful time!

is he a football fan? if yes definatly take him to shula's steak house. it's an amazing meal and nothing but football themed. it's our families must do.

Is there a country in Epcot of your heritage? Or a country that he visited that he remembers fondly?

We took DF (68) to Germany for the Biergarten buffet. He LOVED it. He talked about the food his grandmother used to make from scratch and it was an all around great time listing to the band.

I have great memories of this time we spent together and hope to do it again soon. Have a great time! :)

I find that the 50's Prime Time is fun for everyone, especially newbies!! Chef Mickeys is fun if you want the "Disney" atmosphere! Coral Reef is a cool atmosphere but the food is just ok.

I just ate at Sanaa at the Animal Kingdom Lodge last weekend and it was fantastic. The food was delicious and the restaurant is located next to the savanna so you can see a variety of animals wandering outside while you eat (something I think they dropped the ball on when they put Boma and Jiko in at the AKL).

If you decide to try it, make note that it is located at the new Kidani Village complex, not at the main Lodge building.

I second the Biergarten -- that's where my dad would want to go! He could get a tall glass of German beer, enjoy the band, and the buffet. My dad would not like any of the "frou-frou" restaurants like Flying Fish or Criticos, so we need to know: you know your dad the best, what kind of things does he like?

It's Expensive but I like the Brown Derby or Liberty Tree Tavern!

Ditto on the Biergarten. I think it would be a fun way to get the full experience, and having the group tables might be fun. (Unless you're looking for private conversation time, in which case it might be a pain.)

I know it doesn't always get the greatest reviews (we've always liked it, though) but San Angel is neat from a "Disney experience" perspective. It's just cool looking. And really, despite what I've heard in reviews, I like the food a lot too.

Also, my in-laws just ate at Artist Point and were absolutely delighted with it.

Take him somewhere nice. I at with my Uncle at Narcooses and it was very nice. A welcome change from when we eat character meals with all the rest of the family.

Are you staying onsite or off? I was thinking Kona Cafe at the Poly and a monorail ride? Or maybe one of the restaurants on the Boardwalk and a stroll after to enjoy the entertainers and a cup of coffee?

We went with my mom and dad in February and the memorable meals were Biergarten (the beer, the band, the great food) and Hollywood Brown Derby (with the Fantasmic! package). As with previous posters, we had, "Grandma used to make this..." comments at Biergarten.

The Brown Derby is nice because it's quieter and the food is awesome. The restaurant is classy and beautifully laid out. It was also fun to walk over to see Fantasmic! afterwards and have reserved seats.

Can't wait to hear where you decided to go!
