Where should I stay for ONE night??

I've been planning my WDW vacation for a while now, and so far have 4 nights booked at Port Orleans-Riverside in July. However, I just found out I have one more night to do something Disney.

I don't want to book another night at PO-R, because... well... I have problems staying in one hotel room for long periods of time (a consequence of working in the travel agency for 4 years).

So what would be a good "one-niter" resort. I'd be doing E-Ride nights that night, and would not be going to any parks the next day so we could just chill at the resort--- that's why an All Star resort is out of the question. (Stayed at ASMusic in '98 and found it overkill of Disney fun and somewhat tacky for an 18 year old. Didn't find the pools very shaded and not relaxing a very relaxing atmosphere. IMO. Great for young kids though!!)

The only other resort I really have heard any other opinions of is Polynesian which I stayed at when I was young, and asked my parents about. However they don't remember the Contemporary as well, and told me it's just "one big apartment building, like the little hole you live in now".... :)

So any opinions would be really helpful! I bought a book "The Everything Guide to WDW, etc" but I found it to be too vague as is the Disney website.

Wilderness Lodge. It just doesnt get any better to hang out a day there, plus E-night from MK to WL is a quick boat trip-check boat times ahead though, the last one may be close to closing.

If I was going to be hanging out at the resort I would pick the Animal Kingdom. I would make sure to get a suvanna view. I love the Poly, but I would need to spend several nights there. Which everone you pick I am sure you will have fun.

You're going to get as many ideas as there are people, but I'd pick something on the Boardwalk. There's lots to do there without getting on a bus or in your car.

If you want to do something a little cheaper, POFQ and POR have lots of atmosphere and wonderful walking trails. I prefer FQ, but I always take a walk over to Riverside.

I'm having this problem too - deciding where to stay for one night b/4 we go to OKW Sun - Fri. We are coming in Sat. night b/c of cheaper airfare. We are arriving at 6:30 in Orlando that night and I keep switching my mind as to what resort I'd like to try for one night or maybe even do off-site that night???!!????

Good luck with your decision! I hope I can decide something for us too!

I'd pick Wilderness Lodge for two reasons.

1. Very close to the MK. Just a boat ride home from MK.
2. Atmosphere. If you are planning on spending the following day at the resort, WL is a beautiful property to enjoy.

I just made a one night reservation at CBR for Friday Dec 6, got 20% DC discount. $106 plus tax. We are are Boardwalk the following Saturday-Friday. We could not get frequent flyer tickets for Saturday, so we got Friday. I picked CBR because I figured it's easy in and out with luggage, plus close to BWV (will have rental car). We stayed there before and liked it. I'm hoping a cheaper AP or code rate comes out.

My answer would depend on your situation. How important is the money issue? Is it more important than proximity? And is that more important than theming?

Personally, we like the Contemporary, although it's more crowded now with SOG there temporarily. The advantage of the monorail being right there is great, even with that many people.

Wilderness Lodge is a great option, with it being the cheapest (along with AKL) of the deluxe resorts, yet nice and close to the MK for the E-ride night. And the themeing is much better than the Contemporary. The only disadvantage might be (and this is only what I have heard, so it may or may not be true) that sometimes the boats don't run after E-Ride, you have to take the bus back. Definatly check this out.

Boardwalk area resorts are a great option if you are just looking for a place to hang out the next day (provided cost isn't the main issue). I would suggest Beach Club or Yacht Club for the use of Storm Along Bay.

AKL has many pluses to it as well, especially if you like animals.

If cost is an issue, and you don't want to go better than a moderate, I would suggest Caribbean Beach or CSR. Both have a very relaxing atmosphere.

Just my thoughts.

We have a similar situation. We'll be at WDW one day prior to the rest of the family and we won't be going to the parks. We just wanted a place to hang out and enjoy the World so we chose to stay at the Beach Club. Storm A Long Bay and Beaches and Cream were the main motivators for us.

Honestly though, I suspect you can't go wrong no matter where you stay! It's Disney World after all.

I would pick -

BWV - proximity to EPCOT. Great hang out place for the next day, and night. Enough to do, but not too hectic.

AKL - The resort alone is a theme park. Definitely a good alternative to the parks. I enjoyed it very much, and found myself hanging out at the resort longer than I expected.

I'd go for a MK resort, since you are doing e-ride. I've stayed at all 4 deluxes, and my favorite is the Grand Floridian. It is a wonderful resort, and has many amenities and luxuries. It is truly a masterpiece. :)
