they're saying that Malvo is Muhammed's "stepson" and they talk about how the two were together in the Washington State locations. Malvo is apparently a Jamaican citizen. but there's no mention of Malvo's mother in any of the news reports.

althoug the town in Washington where Malvo went to high school did have its suspicions about Malvo and tried to find out where he came from and what prior education he'd had -- without success.

interestingly Muhammed's second ex wife lives in Maryland, and had to go to Washington State to recover her children after Muhammend abducted them. I believe his first ex, who lives in Louisiana, had a similar complaint.

John Allen Williams, 41, also known as John Muhammad, and Lee Boyd Malvo, 17, who lived together at a Tacoma, Wash., house before moving cross-country, were being sought for questioning last night. They were believed to have little or no money and may have been frequenting inexpensive hotels and homeless shelters.

The relationship between the teen and Muhammad, who also goes by the name John Allen Williams, was not clear, but several newspapers reported that Malvo is Muhammad’s stepson.

The Times reported that Muhammad was stationed at Fort Lewis outside Tacoma in the 1980s, served in the Gulf War and was later stationed at Fort Ord, Calif. Malvo, who authorities said is a citizen of Jamaica, attended high school in Bellingham, Wash., last year.

Muhammad’s ex-wife, Mildred, was being questioned by the FBI Wednesday, said Adele Moses, who identified herself as the woman’s sister. She said Mildred was living with her in Clinton, Md., southeast of Washington.

Muhammad’s ex-wife Carol Williams said that on one occasion, when their son was in middle school and visited Muhammad in Tacoma, she had to fight a legal battle to gain the boy’s return.
His second wife was Mildred Green, with whom he had three children. Williams said Green called her a couple of years ago after their divorce to tell her that Muhammad had abducted their children and to ask for help in getting them back.

Muhammad was taken into custody today along with John Lee Malvo, a 17-year-old Jamaican national. There were unconfirmed reports that Malvo is either Muhammad's son or stepson.

But Felix Strozier, who ran a karate school with Muhammad in 1997 and 1998, told Good Morning America his former business partner was not a violent man.

Strozier said he also met Malvo while he was running the Bad Boy Baby Stroh Competition Karate Team. In an interview with CNN today, Strozier described Malvo as an "aggressive" and "gruff" 13-year-old who had to be "put in his place."

Muhammad also told Strozier that he had a "special son" who was about 4 years old in 1997.

On the stepson/step father subject. Looking at pics of the two side by side I would have bet that they were blood related. I think they look very much like each other. It surprised me to later hear that they were only 'step' father/son. Did anyone else think that they really looked very much alike?

MSNBC says that the two were not related at all. He was not the step-father but the 17 year old referred to him as his play father.
