Where is the construction going on and when will it be done?
Thinking of going to DL in July or Aug of 2008. Will the contstruction be done?

Are you specifically asking about the construction in DCA? No, it will really just be started. This is a LONG term project and won't be finished for several years.

Not yet, but construction on the entrance will be starting next year and so the entrance will be temporarily moved to enter into Hollywood Pictures Backlot.

REALLY? I thought they decided to leave that till the entrance to the end of the construction in 2012 as the last thing to be renovated.

Actually I posted somewhat wrong information.

The entrance is supposed to be done by 2011, which means that construction on the temporary entrance will begin next year. Construction on the actual entrance will begin in 09. The last project (scheduled to open in 2012) is Carsland.

No, they won't reduce the hours. It is too early to know the refurb schedule for April. It is doubtful that they will have more than a couple rides down at a time, though.

It's true that construction going on at California Adventure park won't affect guests at the Grand Californian Hotel.

However, the construction taking place at the Grand Californian Hotel (for the new wing addition) could affect some guests staying there (mostly with noise, although some views could be affected as well).

The new stage 17 temporary entrance will not be open by August, the temporary entrance is due to open in the fall of 2008. Having said that though it would only affect you if you were park hopping between DCA and DL anyway.

I believe they said sometime in 2009.

If you want to stay there, I would recommend a DownTown Disney view (although that could be noisy too, but a friendlier and happier kind of noisy..... well, at least when the patio door is open. ) Or you could reserve a standard view and request a courtyard view. However, that would be just a request, and you could end up with a view out of the front, looking toward the street (Disneyland Way), the Paradise Pier Hotel, and the Disneyland Hotel. And even some of those standard view rooms on the south end of the hotel could be affected by the noise of the construction, so request a standard view room on the north end of the building.

A little construction on the far wing of the GCH will not make your first DL trip "not great". If you're taking that attitude, you won't be able to visit ever. DLR always has some kind of construction or refurbishments going on.

Actually, I think 2008 would be a great time to go. I would just wait until later in 2008, like mid November or early December. A lot of the construction will be done at the GCH, It's a Small World will be re-opened, most of the rides and attractions should be operating during that time, the crowds should be smaller, and the parks, DTD, and the GCH will be all decked out for the holidays. It's SOOOOO beautiful, and I really love the lobby of the GCH during this time too! The gorgeous Christmas tree.....the pianist playing holiday music on the grand piano in front of the big fireplace.....and Santa sitting in his big chair waiting for kids to sit in his lap and tell him what they want for presents.....it's just splendid!!!
