It is my son's 7th birthday while we are in DW (Feb) and I want it to be SOOO special! since I haven't been yet.. what is the coolest restaurant to make our dinner reservations.. in DLR we love the one right in pirates of the Caribbean ride (can't remember the name LOL) but I want a place thats really cool and really worth making the months in advance reservation :)

*sorry if this is the wrong place to post wasn't sure where to put this question! LOL

I think that Chef Mickey's would be a good place. There are lots of characters,a plentiful buffet, and a party atmosphere. Make sure to get a birthday pin at guest services at the park for him to wear all week. If you let the servers know that you are celebrating a birthday you will usually get a birthday card and dessert, too.

I am going to have to agree with Karlibug. Chef Mickey's is SO COOL. Not to mention, it is a buffet so the birthday boy can eat whatever he wants. :goodvibes.

Thanks for the replies! sounds like a great idea.. since we are vegetarians I do find buffets iffy but I'm sure there will be something he'll like! :)

I was going to suggest CM also. Obviously, a lot of people think it's the party "place to be". party:

I would agree that Chef Mickey's is a party waiting to happen, and the trip I went with my BFF and her 6-yr-old son, we thought it would be a big hit. It was okay, he liked the noise and the napkin-twirling, but overall he preferred the activity at the Ohana dinner and the good-natured snarkiness of the waiter at Whispering Canyon. Especially when the latter brought his momma a ginormous diet coke and she later ended up with twenty-odd bottles of ketchup.

On separate occasions I have been to WDW with my cousins, who are vegan, and with a little communication you will find that almost any of the restaurants on property will accomodate your dietary preferences. The little boy in the aforementioned trip cannot eat gluten, and we had similar treatment from restaurants with him too. Just having a note on the ADR to the effect that your family is vegetarian will help - in many cases, a chef from the kitchen came to discuss their needs with us and sometimes even toured the buffet to show who could eat what, and if that wasn't appealing they were often offered "off-menu" items.

I would say Coral Reef. You can contact CR and have a diver do a special sign for your DS and also have a special menu made up just for him including pictures of him. It is a wonderful place to go!!! Enjoy!!!
