Where is the best place to meet the Princess, and am I too late for a character meal?

I've heard that around the castle you may find the princesses, but I was wondering where else I could go for free to find some. Am I probably too late to get a character meal in, as we are going next week! Did the princess one at Ariel's Grotto get cancelled? Who are the regular characters at the Goofy's kitchen, or at the Paradise Pier? I would rather do a lunch, if it's in the park, or a evening meal on the weekend if it's outside of the park,..as I'm always a last minute planner, and don't want to look like a fool if I call on the phone!

There's definitely enough time to book a PS for a character meal. I had PSs at Goofy's Kitchen and PCH Grill and had to change them today. They were for next week and I had no problem moving them all up a day and was still able to get the times I wanted.

Also, make sure you check out Princess storytime, this is a free event in Fantasyland where a Princess tells a story. Here's the info from the Disneyland site.

Come inside the most magical shop in all of Fantasyland, the Tinker Bell Toy Shop, and live a fairy tale as it's told by one of Disney's classic princesses.

  • Your storytellers may be: Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora ("Sleeping Beauty") or Belle ("Beauty and the Beast")
  • The action is brought vibrantly to life by a cast of colorful players
  • Save the front row seats on the floor for the little ones

The Princess meal has moved to DCA at Ariel's Grotto for lunch and Dinner. Also I heard, because of this they will no longer be in the Animation Building as much.

We went to the Storytelling.. it's in the Princess Shop in Fantasyland right near the Castle. When we were there ( in June) there were 3 stories a day. I think they were at 11:30, 12:30 and 1:30 and they were each different princesses. They are free and afterwards, the Princess will do an autograph session for only those that were at the storytelling, so the line is pretty short.

We saw Snow White and it was excellent!

There were also lots of Princesses out in front of the Castle in the afternoons. Ariel sits in her Clamshell most of the day... you can double check times when you go in to the park... for that and the storytelling.

Good luck! We met all the Princesses except Aurora and Pocahontas.
