Where is the Back to School Thread?

LOL.
My kids start back August 13th.

I have checked a few times and it doesn’t look like one has been started.

I recently returned from an overseas trip with my son we actually bought quite a few shirts while over there. In addition to what we bought pre-trip, he should be good until his next growth spurt. He is super selective over shoes so he usually tells me when he finds a pair online he likes.

Picked up DD some jeans online at Macy’s this past Sunday and for an additional 20% off for the Sunday sale. I am sure
She will want to hit the mall sometime soon. I told her we should go Thursday on my day off because I am not going tax free week with the crowds.

Ordered DD a Vera Bradley lunch box at 25% off a few days ago. She has gotten about three pairs of new shoes over the summer.

Just placed a years order of contacts for both kids. DD goes through contacts so technically ordered s two year supply but despite my efforts those will only last her a year.

School supplies I typically wait until last minute since they will not have their school schedule until then Tuesday before school starts. In high school, there is no school generic list and buying random supplies I have found to be a waste. So I wait until after the first day of school. They just take one notebook and a pen on the first day anyways. We usually buy from Office Depot since they have the best selection for late purchases.

Any good finds online or in stores?
OMG No!!!!!:sad2:
Teachers go back on the 27th. The last thing I want to dwell on is going back to school. :crazy2: I just got back from vacation at the Polynesian a little over a week ago. Nope. Not thinking about school right now. I still have 20 days left.

Has anyone else been disappointed in the Target back to school section this year? The one's I've checked out in our area are not as well stocked as usual. I purchases half of the Up & Up Reinforced College Rule notebook paper that one store had out yesterday - and I only bought 8 packs! The binder selection is particularly pitiful.

Yes, I have been disappointed in Target and Walmart's selection this year in particular with the spiral notebooks. Usually they have been 15 cents for 70 sheets. All I have seen is 25 cents or 50 cents a piece. But since I am a teacher and buy the notebooks with my own money for my students the extra dime or 35 cents really adds up.

Thankfully I stacked up on school supplies last year when the clearance sales hit. For the rest of the items that I needed I went to Target during our tax free weekend at the end of July. I was less than impressed on the selection as it was already limited, pricing was missing, and there weren't really any sales.

What I find to be more frustrating than purchasing school supplies is paying school fees. With 4 kids it really adds up. Yesterday I wrote so many checks because of course they don;t accept cards. Here's the summary on the mandatory fees paid yesterday:
  • Elementary aged boys: $25 technology fee x 2 boys, school bookstore items (because can't get anywhere else...school name on it) $37 =$87
  • Middle school girls: $25 technology fee x 2 girls, $50 laptop insurance fee x 2 girls, $15 field trip fee x 2 girls = $180

What I still have to pay or know is coming up:
  • I did NOT put any money onto their lunch accounts yet. Have to wait for payday.
  • Forgot to budget in the $75 x 2 girl = $150 orchestra fee mandatory for music, polo, and booster fee. That will be paid next week.
  • Know that I will need to send in $10-20 each boy for their class shirts sometime in the next month. Waiting for that notice.
  • Pictures are at the end of August.
  • Class donation of $20 for teacher appreciation/birthday/holiday party snacks.
