Where in the World are Y'all!!!

I used to live in San Antonio for a few years (just left in July 2006), but I used to love to drive up to Austin to run around Town Lake.

No kidding - I grew up in the San Antonio area. Moved to Austin when DH and I got married a few years ago.

Bless you. You have the best, and I mean THE BEST running path down at Town Lake. You can get on the path at Auditorium Shores or under the Mopac Highway. The path is very long and soft, dirt and crushed gavel. You can do it as a loop using the bridge under Mopac and the Congress Street bridge to cross, or you can do outs and backs, from Auditorium Shores to mile marker 3 and back if you want 6, or starting under Mopac, going to Auditorium Shores, turning around to mile 3, then doubling back to your starting point if you want 6. There are water fountains, hills, flats, everying.

Sigh, you've just taken me back to the 1980's. Thank you. I'm a lot younger and fitter, at least in my mind.

I've heard that the Town Lake Trail is really great. We haven't ventured out anywhere more exotic than our neighborhood yet, but that's one of the first places that we're planning on checking out! Just have to get a little more stamina built up before I'd be willing to go out in public on a real trail. :)

South Salem, Northern Westchester County, New York, about 35 minutes north of Manhattan. You know, where they have that little New York City Marathon race.

:rotfl:

Middletown, CT. Grew up in New Canaan, CT, not too far from you, Honibee!! Mom still lives there.
We have the Hartford Marathon in October. I was signed up for the 1/2 but decided the day b4 to sign up for the full! YIPES. It was ok.
Not as much fanfare as Disney's 1/2 that I did in '06, but that's why I did it. I figured if I could finish a marathon in "The Insurance Captial" (whoopee), the excitement of running a full marathon in Disney should give me a bit more umpf!:rotfl:
Not sure what I was thinking signing up for the GOOFY, though:confused3

I am just north of Toronto, Ontario Canada

There is alot of runs in the Greater Toronto Area. DH is doing a 8K in April and we are both considering a 1/2 either the Toronto Waterfront Marathon end of Sept or the Toronto Marathon later in October, haven't decide yet.

Just south of Daytona Beach here.

Right now we are in the middle of Speedweeks. It's a great week, even for non-NASCAR fans. It get a little busy with an additional 250,000 people in town. I'm glad that Gasparilla is in the morning so we will be able to listen to the race on the way home.

But then Speedweek is nothing compared to Bike Week when 600,000 people show up. I'm not a biker, but love Bike Week because there are so many interesting bikes and bikers to look at. There should be a law against some people wearing leather chaps. :scared1:

We travel a lot so will be checking this thread to see who we can run with.

Hi! Trying to do my first 5K! Got my new shoes (thanks to GREAT advice from fellow WISH-DISers)...I AM READY TO GO!

2 5K's in my town...per year (I think)!

I live in Valdosta, Georgia...the town that you pass through when traveling down I-75 to get to WDW! You must slow down when you hit V-Town or you will get a ticket!

Tracy and I live in Bradenton, Florida. We're on the West Coast, just South of Tampa Bay. Only 100 miles from WDW.

I'm from a suburb of Cleveland Ohio. We've got many opportunities to qualify for running near Craig and Martha (Boston)
May 20th there is Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon, half marathon and 10k
September 29th there is the Road Runners Akron marathon and relay
October 7th there is the Towpath marathon, half marathon and 5k in my favorite place--Cuyahoga Valley National Park it is on a lovely soft crushed gravel path easy on my old bones and part of the training path I use.

There are many opportunities for local 5ks as well.

I'm in Raleigh, NC. Lots of small races, but they've just announced the return of the City of Oaks Marathon and Half Marathon on November 4th. I may be at a band competition that day, and I don't know if that's too close to the Disney dates, but I'm very excited that we're getting our own marathon!

We are right outside of Orlando and I think I could do a race every weekend and never go more than 30 mins away

I am in Wausau, Wisconsin, in the center of the state. We aren't far from Canada, tho I have only been there once!!!

We have a bunch of local 5K's, a few 10K's and 2 1/2 Marathons spread out from spring through fall that I know about. Green Bay is a little over an hour away (Go Packers) and they have a great 1/2 and Full Marathon in May. I am going to try for the 1/2. Our local races attract between 100-300 people, so they are teeny. Of the 4 I ran last year, I never ran with anyone because there weren't enough people around.

Now that I am a little more conditioned, I may search out more races within an hours drive. Being in Wisconsin, I know we have some Beer Runs.... and don't forget the Rump Roast Race I ran last year!!!!!
