Karolyn, I know you don't follow basketball, but yesterday was a historic day for Duke. Coach K got his 1,000th win!!!! It's the first time for a men's coach in NCAA Division I to achieve it. And boy was it a close one! We were actually losing for most of the game, and came back with about 10 minutes to go

Karolyn, I know you don't follow basketball, but yesterday was a historic day for Duke. Coach K got his 1,000th win!!!! It's the first time for a men's coach in NCAA Division I to achieve it. And boy was it a close one! We were actually losing for most of the game, and came back with about 10 minutes to go

Correct...I don't follow basketball but I DID see that on ESPN last night after the Pro Bowl. AWESOME! I love those stories; tells me he's a good man with the talent needed to bring out the best in his students. Warms my heart to know there are teachers/coaches "out there" that can still do that and enjoy it! Congratulations!

Sounds like the computer system is already shutting down for the blizzard. According to Janice Dean, you should go home today and stay there the rest of the week! She's really stressing that residents should NOT venture outside; stock up on nonperishable goods and be prepared to be housebound for 3-4 days. Hugs to you and please stay safe! (Good to hear that they at least rescheduled your interview!)

Saw the story on the new movie for Soarin' last week. I'll miss the old one...love the "scents" but anxious to see what's in store.

He really is a wonderful man. I met him once at a book signing. Duke players have always had the reputation of not just being teammates, but family.

For example, a few years ago a Duke player, Jay Williams, was the #2 draft pick for the NBA. Unfortunately before his season with the Bulls started, he was in a horrible motorcycle wreck and severely damaged his leg. He said that in the months that followed with rehab, Coach K flew out to see him, and his former teammates came to his house to help him out. Not one Bulls player called. There's a whole lot more to the story (the NY Times actually did a full feature on him) but it just shows you what Duke is like. I love them for many more reasons than their success.

We did grocery shopping yesterday and just have to pick up milk today, bought some yesterday but it's already half gone.

Boss won't close the office tommorrow even though she is not coming in. I'm not going to go to work tomorrow, three other girls aren't coming in either and one said maybe depends on how bad it is . One girl said she is definitely coming in, she may be the only one there.
