Y'ALL...WE JUST GOT A SHOWER OF RAIN! First bit of moisture ALL summer! After spending 2 HOURS in the dentist chair this afternoon (for a 15 minute procedure )...she was VERY far behind today.... the evening turned out full of surprises! Pumpkin Spice is back at Starbucks too!

Y'ALL...WE JUST GOT A SHOWER OF RAIN! First bit of moisture ALL summer! After spending 2 HOURS in the dentist chair this afternoon (for a 15 minute procedure )...she was VERY far behind today.... the evening turned out full of surprises! Pumpkin Spice is back at Starbucks too!

It tasted SO good again! Now I'm waiting for my REAL favorite...Chestnut Praline which normally appears about 6 weeks after Pumpkin Spice. We were finishing dinner and "heard this weird noise" ; it was sunset and couldn't really see out the window so I walked into the garage and shouted for David to come out. A lot of Facebook posts said the same thing...we couldn't believe it! Sara lives about 10 minutes north of us and they didn't get a drop!
Amanda got about a quarter inch too. Such a small amount but we're hopeful that the heat dome above us is lifting and MAYBE the pattern will change and allow showers to develop.

I know y'all probably laugh at me when I say our Texas heat is "different" than the high temperature heat in other places. What an example today in our local newspaper! There was an article on, what I personally believe is a pretty stupid event , The Habanero Hundred that was held at one of our local ranches. It's a marathon race managed by Trail Racing Over Texas. Runners have 30 hours to complete the run competing in distances from 10 kilometers to 100 miles. They started the race at high noon; feel like temperature was 114. (I mean WHY would ANYONE want to run a race in those temperatures??? ) One of the participants placed 25th at this year's Marathon des Sables, a 150 mile race through the SAHARA! He said he came to the race looking for another challenge... but decided to QUIT after THREE HOURS! He said, "I've run through some of the toughest conditions on earth, but they don't compare to the mental strength required to finish this race". This years overall 100 mile winner finished in 20 hours and 47 minutes! Yeah...it DOES seem hotter here in Texas. (Still can't believe people DO that! !)

I'm going to have to do better with my Friday time management! But, in my defense, the game tonight WAS a long one! This is the HALFTIME SCORE...and the point spread was 13! I was expecting a CLOSE game!



Pep rally this afternoon was FUN! Their routine was to honoring Tina Turner ... PROUD MARY!



Game at 7:30...nice breeze so wasn't as hot as we expected after a high today of 103 :



This was when the "senior year" got real for me! After the game, it's tradition for the seniors to move to the track with the football team for the School Song :
