It is Pineapple flavored soft serve and the Dole Whip Float which is even better is the soft serve with Great tasting and very refreshing juice

I didnt even know they served onion rings in DL. I will def try them when I go again this weekend. Thanks for making this thread as I do love onion rings and now I have another great reason to go to DL haha.

I'm pretty sure the ONLY two places at DLR to get them are Hungry Bear at DL and TPG at DCA.

They are exactly the same at both places, and I'm 100% sure they are frozen. They are the "breaded and fried" kind, not beer battered, if you care to know such things.

Can you tell I like my onion rings? ;)

I must say that before the remodeling of DLH in the late '90s and the introduction of Downtown Disney, the 'old' Disneyland Hotel had a restaurant called the Monorail Cafe and it had the BEST BEST BEST EVER onion rings - oh, they were so good, they melted in your mouth. I WISH they would bring back the Monorail Cafe and stick it somewhere in some hotel (even if not in the DLH) - it was like a good old fashioned diner/coffee shop/pie shop kind of place and the food was sooooooo good. Oh, the milkshakes! The pie! The BBQ chicken sandwich! YUM!

But, since the Monorail Cafe and its delectable onion rings are gone, I have to say that the ones in Taste Pilots Grill are pretty darn tasty!

Brings back fond memories. I loved that place.

Yes!:thumbsup2 Someone else remembers the Monorail Cafe!:cool1: Wasn't it good? The food was so good, and their onion rings were beer battered - soft and melted in your mouth! I wish they hadn't axed that place when the remodel was done, or I wish they could find some way to bring it back to one of the hotels.

I remember when it started out as a coffee shop. Loved their food. Last time I was there was 97-98. Went back in 2000 and it was gone. The food was that good and a nice place to go if you stayed at DLH.

Sherry I LOVED the monorail cafe! It was so cute and the food was yummy! They should bring it back.

It is weird to imagine now that when the DLH property was larger, there were several extra restaurant/dining options to explore, and a couple of bars/lounges too!! And a lot of folks who had not been to DL prior to the remodel have no clue that other restaurants ever existed! The Monorail Cafe was definitely one of the better restaurants. It fit a particular niche. It wasn't a 'coffee bar,' it wasn't a bar/lounge, it wasn't a more upscale restaurant, it wasn't a character meal, it wasn't a specialty restaurant and it wasn't counter service. It was just good old fashioned diner/coffee shop food in hearty portions (and it was always crowded when we went), along with onion rings, milkshakes, pies, etc. I wish I had taken a picture of the Monorail Cafe sign because I am feeling nostalgic and want to remember what it looked like!

:lmao::lmao:Now someone needs to start the 'Reinstate the Monorail Cafe' petition!!!:rotfl::rotfl:

This thread has now caused me to urge onion rings as part of dinner tonight. Darn you all!

OOOH... I've been dreaming of TPG lately, mostly due to their onion rings. Though the waffle fries are awesome too! I love dipping my onion rings in a concoction called "fry sauce". People who are local to Utah and Arizona should already know what I am talking about, but I have met many a confused californian. It is just half catsup and half mayo. So good. BBQ works well too!

The original Artic Circle fry sauce was the best!!!!!

I know fry sauce, I make it myself! It's sooooooooooo good!!!!!! I do a little more ketchup than mayo tho, and sometimes I add some onion or celery salt, not too much just a pinch but it changes the flavor just a bit. I used to eat fries w/fry sauce every day at lunch when I was in high school. LOL And yes, I remember the Arctic Circle too, loved eating there!! LOL

Since I started this thread and it has had MORE responses than I had hoped for-THANKS BY THE WAY:thumbsup2 HOW ABOUT SHARING SOME PICS OF ONION RINGS FROM DISNEYLAND IF YOU HAVE ANY TO SHARE? Just thought we could spruce up the thread and actually show some pics! I don't have any to share as this is our 1st family trip to Disneyland. I'm looking forward to the Test Pilot's Grill though:worship:
