We are heading to Orlando at the end of the week and were thinking of bringing my broken scooter down to have it repaired. We live in a smaller town and there is no place that repairs scooters so we thought we would bring it with us to see if any of the places there would repair it for us.

DH broke the steering wheel off of it. I bought a used one that looks like the same thing happened to it and it has been repaired so we are hoping to get this one in working order.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have heard that Buena Vista, Care and Walker may do repairs.

That said, I think this is not a good idea.
Getting the ECV all the way to the gate is going to be quite difficult with a non-working ECV.
There is no guarantee that the airline will accept a non-working ECV and they could charge you for it. If it doesn't work, it's not a needed piece of mobility equipment, it's freight.
The last part is even if you can find someone to fix it, there is no guarantee it will be fixed in time for you to bring it home with you. Delays happen - they may not have the part in stock, may need more parts and may fix the part that appears broken, but find something else wrong. If you can't bring it home with you, you would need to have it shipped home.

Yes we did drive so we were able to bring both with us. We found out what we needed to do to get the broken one repaired so we are having it repaired at home. While we were there the one I had bought at a yard sale broke at Epcot so we ended up buying another used one. This one is much sturdier than the other ones were so I feel more confident taking this outside. FWIW the first 2 were tzora brand. If you only plan to use inside, that would be a great brand because its really portable. It just isn't made for outside use.

Just an FYI....Walker told me that they did not deal with repairs when I inquired about one in late 2014.

Thanks - I know someone had gotten one repaired there in the past. Apparently things changed.

My scooter needed repairs last year and there was no service available locally. Called repair places in Pittsburgh and found no company who even heard of my brand. So I called the manufacturer and they gave me a heads-up about companies that do repair work on their scooters in my regional area. Ended up locating a company that repairs my scooter brand in Columbus, OH, over 2 hrs from home. I drove the scooter there and it turned out they had to order parts from the manufacturer. It took a little less than 2 weeks to get the scooter back -- repaired.

So If you took the broken scooter to Orlando, you better first know if there is a repair company that is willing to fix your brand, and can handle your scooter's issues. Then be prepared to be in Orlando long enough to pick up your repaired scooter. Could take as long as my scooter repair did. Maybe taking your scooter to a place a few hours from your home would be the real solution, after all.

Good luck.
