Where in MDE does it tell you if Fantasmic is canceled for the night?

We did the Brown Derby Fantasmic Dining package today, which is a big upchage for some of our entrees. At 7 pm there is a major storm going on, and we need to decide by 7:45 whether to risk the weather getting better, or just bag it. Trees are sideways right now now. The forecast looks rough. I can’t find ny info in the app on current day show conditions.

We are staying at the Vistana off-site. It is crazy. Emergency sirens are non-stop. Our 30 year old daughter and her hubby are trapped in Connections in Epcot, where they thought they would stroll world showcase, find a few drinks and take the skyliner back to DHS to meet us. That seemed like such a good plan at 4 pm.

It just seems very odd that there doesn’t seem to be a status update place in the app. My hubby is not so far past a hip break, and I’ve decided we aren’t going back, cancelled or not. There are active accidents all around us according to the live map. The kids are going to wait it out and uber home.

I see it listed at 9p.

From the home page, next to 'Upcoming Plans', I clicked 'My Day'.

That took me to the page w/'Tip Board' and 'My Day'. I clicked on 'Tip Board'.

Change Parks to Hollywood Studios and scroll down to Fantasmic.

Is that a thing?

When I've been there in storm season they set up to run it, everyone sits in the theater ready for the show even if they're drowning like rats in the rain, and around showtime Disney announces if they're cancelling.

Yeah, I experienced one once - weather was dicey. They didn't make the decision to down it until the last minute, or in my case, they actually started, but had to pull the plug in the first minute or so. If they can run it though, they will.

I understand it is now after 9PM but given how FL weather can change, I would guess they wait until closer to show time to cancel on the nights they are cancelling. Normally I've heard announcements in the park. I don't remember anything being published on the app but that would be a great idea if they did that!

I know once I was at Epcot for Harmonious (well, for the D23 Cosmic Rewind Preview - but we had special viewing for Harmonious) and storms were coming in. They delayed the start while watching the weather. Eventually when it became clear the system was not moving the way they thought it would they called it off. The second time I was going to get to hopefully see it, it was delayed, but they were able to run it.

Given that Fantasmic has live performers, they may call it a bit earlier, but for the nighttime spectaculars in my experience they hold off on those decisions until much closer to time - unless it is something containing lightning that clearly is not moving on any time soon.

We are also here now and wanted to watch Fantasmic last night. That storm was something! For what it’s worth, we’re staying in one of the Epcot resorts and can see and hear fireworks from both Harmonious and Fantasmic from our room. I don’t believe either ran last night. Disappointing for sure, but at least it didn’t run after you decided not to go back in.

I was stuck in this same issue last night and also could not find the answer in MDE. Paid out my nose for the package eating at Hollywood and Vine yesterday and even skipped on my special summer AP discount to do so; I will not do the package again and will chance it next time.

The weather took me by surprise though. Even ended up unexpectedly eating dinner at Brown Derby since it was the meal place to get out of the storm.

Last night, the app never did show it was cancelled. I’m going to plead our case with DHS guest services, as the danger of going out in the storm with a DH recovering from a hip break on the off chance they ran it were truly dangerous to be redundant.

I guess this gives me pause for booking a package (we’re going Aug/Sep). Sounds like it was a mess!
This really isn't a new "problem" as all the "fireworks" shows are not guaranteed with the specialty dining/dessert parties. One is always gambling on these reservations.

On the Fantasmic page it says ...

Scheduling
The Fantasmic! Dining Package is available on all Fantasmic! show days. Please note that your dining experience will still take place, even if your entertainment experience is cancelled.

For Dessert Parties it says ...

Fireworks

Fireworks are not guaranteed as part of this experience; on rare occasions, evening fireworks may be rescheduled or cancelled.

Yes, I was going to say, I'm sure Disney will make it right. - Stinks you have to request it, but I have little doubt they won't make it right.

- I know the fine print for those who will see my post and have the urge to post the "they don't owe you anything stuff", but in all of my many many experiences with Disney; one of the reasons we keep returning is because I know they are a company that will typically speaking and within reason make things right with folks and work with them as much as they can.

OP please report back if you don't have a positive experience.
