Where have you been all my life?

I'm talking about the pre-lit, three-piece Christmas tree!!! I just bought one, it's new territory for me. All I can say is it's a glorious day at the McK. household. No yelling, no swearing, no sticky tree sap to clean up. It's going to be a great holiday!!

No disposal, no waste of a tree, and no having to shell out $$ again next year!!!

I felt the same way when I took mine out of the box for the first time last year! I couldn't believe that in 5 minutes I had a beautiful tree completely lit and ready to go! I had bought it at BJs at the beginning of last November. I was so excited to read the directions that I opened the box as soon as I got it home. After seeing the directions and not believing anything could be so easy I decided just to test it myself. Within 5 minutes it was up and ready to be plugged in. I was totally amazed! So much so that I kep that tree up and undecorated for another 3 weeks sitting in the strange location of right in the middle of my family room floor. I finally decided, after much admiration, that it needed to go in the right place and be decorated. Today I am bringing out that tree from the attic and decorating it along with my whole house. At this time of the year I am usually dreading the tree assembly and light fiasco but not this time! I am so looking forward to those 5 easy steps!!

We've been there, done that with the real thing and all it's glory for some 35 yrs. It was great while it lasted w/all the kiddies were home, the ritual of the hunt, setting it up, kids helping decorate while having eggnog nog and singing Christmas carols. Lots of special memories and warm fuzzies!

However, the nest is empty now and a few yrs back I convinced DH to downsize and get an artificial one. Then we progressed even more and went with a pre lite one!! OMG, it is like a piece of heaven on earth !! Last year I didn't even put it away, it is in storage room with cover over it ! It is pre-lite with all white lites and I add some red and blue lites to represent our soldiers who cannot be home and top with an angel holding the American flag . I even bought some spray pine scent!?!?!

If one light goes out is the whole tree affected? that would be the only thing keeping me from purchasing a pre-lit tree.

So excited, it's christmas lights weekend. Up here in canada we put them up whenever the weather is above freezing. who knows what you'll get in december!

Nope! That doesn't happen with just one bad bulb. We got a really thick one after Christmas a couple years ago. I have always had a fake one & wrapped the lights really tight & left them on each year but this makes it even easier. I hope that whoever though of this is living very well now.

We have always had a real tree, but I am seriously thinking of buying one of these pre-lit babies this year. Last year we bought one that started dropping needles after a week. The thing was so dry by the time we took it down that some branches looked like sticks.

I love the smell of a real tree, but I think a visit to Yankee Candle will remedy that loss - Balsam scent!

Yeah, we really missed the scent of a tree, but we bought a real pine wreath and hung it on the wall across from our tree and it worked just fine!
