Where does everyone eat at MGM?

We used to love our character lunch at Hollywood & Vine. Unfortunately, this meal was ended just days before our March trip. It was a short trip & we never ended up eating anywhere at MGM. We've previously eaten at Sci-Fi Dine In & didn't care for it. We also aren't interested in Brown Derby - we have one here locally.

Any advice on a great place to eat at MGM for our upcoming trip would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!! :bounce:

We (DH and I) really enjoy Mama Melrose's and the 50s Prime Time Cafe.

Dh and I have eaten at Mama Melrose's on 2 previous trips to MGM and have a PS to take the "family" there on our next one. Really good food. Lots of choices. I really liked the atmosphere.

I second (third?) 50's Prime Time Cafe. As far as I'm concerned, it's the only decent place to eat at MGM (although I have not tried Mama Melroses). Not only is the food really good at 50's (down home country food and lots of it), but you won't find the fun in the service anywhere else at the park. The waitstaff alone is worth the trip (but try the pot roast or fried chicken!).

We enjoy and have had wonderful meals many times at: Brown Derby, Mama Melrose and 50's Prime time. Our favorite though is Brown Derby.

I'll fourth 50's Prime Time...... try their PB&J shake!!!

Brown Derby is very good also... it's modeled after the one-of-a-kind Brown Derby restaurant and hang-out for famous people in the Golden Age of Movies in Hollywood.

They even have some of the original cariacatures on the walls of the movie stars!!!

Enjoy!!

The Brown Derby is not related to your OH chain. I was born in Akron, I know OH BD,
MGM BD is more gourmet, very good. Check the menu.
We ate @ Mommas last week & had some great salads & brick oven pizzas.

I have eaten at all the sit down restaurants at MGM except for Mama Melrose. I would highly recommend 50's Prime Time! The food and the atmosphere are great. We also really enjoyed the burgers and shakes at Sci-Fi!

Good luck in your decision!

Since you don't want to eat in Brown Derby. My vote is for 50s Prime Time Cafe.

How about Starring Rolls?? If I recall they have a nice selection for breakfast(not huge) and sandwiches for lunch. My son and I eat there while the "daring duo" ride ToT and RnR.

Definitely try the 50's Prime Time. It is a lot of fun. The wait staff can sense who does and who does not want to play along so don't worry.
Also, not too many people mention the food here but we have found it to be excellent!
My DS loves their fried chicken and I love their salmon. Always plenty of food and really good quality. My son (now 13) wants to eat there every trip we make.
Try it and ENJOY!
:)

We thought about Prime Time Cafe, but I really was unsure about all of the server interaction. I'm not sure how my hubby would feel about too much interaction. It may be someplace to consider if the servers can sense when customers don't enjoy the interaction.

We are also considering Mama Melrose's - would love to find some good chicken parmigiana somewhere in the World. Thanks again for all the replies! :D

We've tried 50's and liked it, but Mama Melroses is one my favorite restaurants at WDW and would highly recommend it.

The first time I went with my 2 kids.... they are 22 and 20, and they loved the interaction with the servers..... the second time was just my DH and I and.... the server was REALLY annoying... I didn't eat everything on my plate and he wanted me to stand up and sing "I'm a little teapot" to everyone.... he even had everyone at tables around us clap if they wanted to see me do that, and they did.. .. we'll... thats just not me... it was embarrassing to say the least.....
