Where do you vacation outside of Disney??

Every year:

August - Knoebels for a week of camping and family fun

September - Wildwood for a long weekend of the car show

We try to vacation at WDW at least every other year (sometimes US/IOA instead/in addition to).

We camp at least one week each summer on the Cape usually (where we live so if it rains we just go home for the night, lol).

I love cruising, with the kids, without the kids, anyway. Would cruise at least twice a year if I could afford it.

When not vacationing at WDW, we enjoy going to St Thomas & St John's USVI........

::MickeyMo I LOVE WDW!!! ::MickeyMo

I would love to be able to go twice a year or so. But, it's all I can do to get DH down there once every two years or so. Now our kids are teens, they are also less inclined to want to go. :sad2:

So, we usually go to the Smoky Mountains about once a year (in-laws own a couple of houses there). We also take small trips to New Orleans, Florida panhandle beaches, and various attractions around here.

I told DH that I could solve our problem....we could LIVE at WDW and then we could vacation anywhere he wants!!!! :rotfl2: Neither he nor our bank account are going for that one!!!!!

If I am not planniing a vacation I am not happy :sad2: :sad2: :sad2: so

We always have a Disney ::MickeyMo vacation in the planning stage :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

and the 20 of us :grouphug: (my brother and his family :grouphug: , sister and her family :grouphug: and my parents :love2: go lots of places

Washington DC, Williamsburg, Ocean , Custer State Park, Branson, St Louis, San Francisco, New Mexico. The kids are pushing for hawaii :rotfl2: :rotfl2: and southern California :bounce: :bounce: .

We try to go to WDW once per year each summer, and then alternate years in the winter between Cancun, Mexico (the Royal resorts!) and DisneyWorld combined with the Disney Cruise. We stagger these to maximize our annual passes.

We love to camp and do that a few times each summer and into the fall. We also love Hilton Head Island, SC. That is the most calm and slow paced restful beach. It used to be Myrtle Beach, but since we have found Hilton Head we wont go back. Gatlinburg is also a favorite place for us to vacation. DISNEY IS OUR FAVORITE, but unfortunately it is costly and we cant go but every couple of years. We are hoping to get 10 day no expire passes this time when we go and maybe we can go next year too, since the tickets will be paid for!!!!! :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

We take road trips so if I'm not taking the drive up to Disney...we might take a drive down to Key West or I might take a drive over to Busch Gardens or Universal. I'm trying to get to Cypress Gardens, Ocala and St. Augustine but the timing hasn't been right. Unfortunately we haven't venture out of Florida in about 8 years (because of the time constraints of my job) but I do want to try to squeeze in a Disneyland trip next year for DD high school graduation gift.

We travel every year and usually do Disney every other year and sometimes every year but what (to my DH's chagrin) we think is the PERFECT vacation is what I call the 2 in 1. One week at WDW (which for us isn't a relaxing vacation), followed by one week on a gorgeous tropical beach someplace to unwind. It's become quite the little habit but oh does it work. We get the best of both worlds and my kids LOVE the beach just as much as Disney. We especially LOVE the Caribbean and have been to many islands. Have also done Maui and the Mayan Riviera. This next trip is no exception as we will spend a week on our favorite island of St. John visiting the British Virgin Islands as well. What a combo. Can't wait!!!

i just got back from New orleans(hot as he**!) I'm going to Destin,FL next week and they to the Outer Banks,NC later in July. Our WDW trip is scheduled for November. then next summer, God willing, we're off to Yellowstone Park!

Canada to fish in July.
Disney in January.

And one other place each year. This year, southern CA, to see friends from way back when I lived out there. (Can't wait!)

Next year looking at a 3 week trip up the eastern coast.

It's just close and fun and well there IS the CHOCOLATE!!!!

Besides Fort Wilderness :sunny: since we are a camping family :grouphug:

Dh's goal is to visit every state and all the National Parks... so far we have 4 states left... HI,Alaska,Oregon and Washington.. I stopped counting the National Parks.. but have them written in a journal.
I think our best trips are the ones where we just go with the flow.. we did the 4 corners one year on a whim on the way back from CA.. Camped at the Grand Canyon .. hiked down.. (yea dummy me got heat stroke :guilty: not doing that again.. next time he can go down himslef :rotfl: ) talkn about roughing it.. in a popup NO ac and no electric.. the first time I have ever had to pay for a shower :rolleyes1 .. and that water pressure was Awesome!!

since my family is from the East coast we always stop at Hershey and of course the Crayola Factory,on the way home I try and do a stop over at Longaberger :Pinkbounc

this year, Holiday World in Santa Claus In.. that was a quick weekend trip... free sodas! the water park is great :cool1:

Canada is beautiful too....Their campgrounds are really clean :sunny:

besides WDW dd 14.. loves Mall of America,Manhattan and the Outer Banks of NC pirate:

my favorite National parks are the Smoky's, Yellowstone,Arches, and Acadia in Maine

we have tried to fit a disney trip in once a year or everyother year..Looking forward to the Fort in October :cool1:

We leave for eastern Tennessee on Friday...Dollywood...the Smokey Mountains :goodvibes Then it's back to WDW next July  We love Dolly and Disney :cheer2: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

Our vacations used to be very different prior to ds (more places, simpler accomodations)...but now:

We go to StoryLand and Santa's Village in NH every summer. Additionally, we cruise (adults only!) every year or other year. We're taking ds on his first cruise this summer, and we hope he likes it so we can simplify our vacation planning.

Another thing that we do (my dh has to be dragged kicking and screaming to Disney), is go to Orlando and not step foot on Disney property. I know, it's sacrilege for some of you, but we love Universal, Sea World, the Kennedy Space Center, etc. We spent our February vacation (the kids have a week off) there this year, and were so happy to be in the sunshine and out of the snow, I didn't care where we went. I hit the Disney store at MCO on the way out, and that really was fine.

I'm taking my 6 year old to StoryLand next week. I was born and raised (till the age of 10 anyway!) in New Hampshire and my dad's side of the family has a cottage on Lake Ossipee. We are heading up there tomorrow for a week. I used to go to StoryLand, Santa's Village and Six Gun City when I was a kid...now it's time for MY kids to go!! I've been wanting to take my 6 year old for a few years now, but never had the right opportunity. I hope he likes it! :goodvibes

I have been to the Mouse House over 20 times. Three years ago when I got remarried my wife and I went on our honeymoon  to Phoenix, Arizona (wife won a trip via "Travel Trivia" on Live With Regis and Kelly) then a week in San Francisco. We had a blast! Only then did I realize that there was a whole new world out there to be found! We have also cruised on Celebrity Cruiseline to the Eastern Carribean and the Mexican Riveria. They were unbelievable! This year we're taking a cruise to Canada on Royal Carribean and in the Fall we'll be headed back to WDW staying at POFQ :earboy2: . I've come to realize that Disney every 3 years is plenty right now. However, when grandkids come along (fingers crossed) I'll have an excuse to come down more often. :mickeybar
