Hello everyone,

Someone on the dining board suggested I post my question here. We will be staying at the Dolphin and will have a car. Where can we eat, occasionally, with the kids, that is nice but less expensive than the WDW resorts?

If you have a car, go to Bahama Breeze. It is a tropical themed restaurant that has very good food and excellent tropical drinks. It is about 5 minutes from the Swan if you go to the one in Lake Buena Vista.

but great food and cheap prices is Sonny's Barbecue on 192.

Also, Shell's seafood a little farther down on 192 is really good.

Almost hate to admit it, but we have really good meals at the Red Lobster located in the Crossroads.

The UNOs Pizzeria in the Crossroads has good food.

We have also eaten at Coco's and Jungle Jim's in the Crossroads. Coco's had a nice atomsphere and decent food. JJ has good hamburgers.

I must admit I never go to the Chilis near me at home. However, we did try the one on International Drive near CrossRoads and the food was GOOD. It was me and my husband and two of our friends. Our bill came to $50 with tip. This included 4 salads, 4 entrees, chips and salsa, 3 deserts and 4 drinks. When we went in January it was buy 1 Get 1 free Margarita. :D

Chili's for us also. Every year we go at least twice. Buy one get one free strawberry margaritas, perfect way to end the day.

I asked the same thing for our trip last November, and the Bahama Breeze came up repeatedly as a suggestion. We didn't eat there last time because we were looking for something for Thanksgiving Day and they weren't open, but hope to this year, based on the rave reviews I read here. Try doing a search for it...you'll probably come up with more info.

Good luck!

Chevy's Fresh Mex in the Crossroads was good.

First trip for me: 1973
(the year of my birth)
DL a few times and WDW a zillion times (it seems) :) up until 1989 when MGM opened
First trip w/ DH (28), DS (4), DD (2): 2/28-03/06/01-Wyndham Palace
Next trip: 09/28-30/01 ASMu; 09/30-10/08/01 ASMo

Last year my family and I ate at T.G.I. Friday's on west U.S. 192 and the food as well as service was great there. They have such a wide ranging menu at moderate prices that everyone in the family is bound to find something they like.

Also, if you don't mind dinner/lunch buffet style restaurants there are some on this stretch of road such as Ponderosa Steakhouse and Golden Corral which we visited that had good food at reasonable prices (they also had a regular menu of nonbuffet items too). There is also a Bob Evans Restaurant and a fairly new Shoney's on this same street.

Additionally, there is a Sizzler on U.S. 192 that we had dinner at one night that had a great variety of entrees.

Chevy's in the Crossroads is our favorite and we live in TX with plenty of Tex Mex, just no Chevy's. There are lots of great place on I Drive. This year we are going to try Universal's City Walk. We want to try Margaritaville. You will not have a problem finding plenty of restuarants in Orlando.
