If he hadn't written 'Yesterday" "Wonderful Christmastime" would be an unpardonable crime.

It is weak, words sound like something a toddler makes up, and the tune is insanely basic and dull...and then there is the production, with the casio keyboard.

Had ANYONE ELSE written this song, it would never have gotten airplay, and would be forgotten. I suppose he wrote this very quickly after seeing how popular John's Christmas song was...and there is absolutely no comparing the two, "Happy Christmas" is a true classic...even Yoko's catterwalling on it doesn't kill it.

FWIW, I don't think McCartney's song wasn't a response to Lennon's. Wonderful Christmastime" was a 1979 song, and "Happy Christmas (War is Over)" was written in 1971.

But I agree it wouldn't have got nearly the airplay if Joe Schmo had sung it. (That's probably true of a lot of songs by famous artists over the years.)

I've noticed the "Yes" & "No" votes have both had leads in the poll voting. Strong opinions on both sides! No one get points over this, please! ;)

Not as bad as Feliz Navidad and Christmas Shoes, but certainly down at the bottom of my Christmas song list.

Once per holiday season is OK. After that it's a immediate channel changer. I suppose my vote is "other."

I like the Beatles, so in general Paul McCartney IS cool. However, I do truly hate that song. It is like nails on a chalkboard.

I like it, its just a bright bubby little Christmas song. It makes me happy when I hear it. :cool1:

I'd rather get another kidney stone than to hear this wretched song.

I like it. I didn't know there was an issue. Is there an issue for Baby, It's Cold Outside or Santa Baby? I despise both of those.
