I asked this over on the family board, but haven't gotten any responses yet. I thought I'd try the budget board.....

My boys wear sizes 8 and 10 and I'm looking for some ideas of different stores to buy their clothes in. I usually shop either Old Navy, Target, or JC Penney for them but they haven't seen anything in any of those stores that they really like lately. I am particularly looking for over-the-head hoodies and long sleeved shirts for them.

Do you have boys the same sizes as mine? If so, where do you buy their clothes? I am even willing to do some online shopping if the stores that are suggested are not located around me.

I appreciate any suggestions you can make.

I buy at Gap, Lands End and Gymboree for my boys. They have lots of the basics as well as classic clothes that will last a while (I hand down between the boys). Sales are pretty easy to come by in those brands too. Most of it I buy online.

My boys love hoodies and Gymbo has been good for those.

ETA~ My boys have no opinion on the style of their clothes so that's not something I've had to deal with yet so YMMV on whether yours like those styles of clothes. My older DS is a khakis/polo kind of boy so that's pretty easy to come by.

Do you have Kohls near you? My DS is almost 12 and for years we have been buying most of clothes at Kohls and also JC Penney. Kohls has great sales and nice quality. My DS likes their Urban Pipeline and Tony Hawk stuff, as well as athletic brands like Nike and Adidas.

There seemed to be a ton of places to get nice boys clothes until they hit 6X. Then I had no idea where to go:confused3
I saw things I liked at Lands End and PS by Aero (the younger version of Aeropostale). I live in Canada but I have been shopping online from these places and then picking them up in the U.S.

I have a son that is 10. He likes the Shawn White stuff at Target, and Volcom jeans and hoodies. We have a nearby Volcom outlet, but otherwise they're usually found at places like PacSun. I also get him things at JC Penney's and find the occasional graphic-t at Walmart. Other than that he's not too picky, but he is getting into the more sporty type of gear lately. We have a Sports Authority near by, but I found quite a few Nike items at garage sales this summer for him. HTH

My son could be a walking billboard for Childrens Place. :rotfl: He is however starting to outgrow their clothes. I have a BIG 8 year old though. He is almost as tall as many of my adult friends. I'm 5'9" and he comes past my shoulder if that gives you an idea.

My DS is a little older than your boys, but when he was younger I liked Gap, Gymboree, Hanna Andersson, Crew Cuts (kids version of J. Crew), abercrombie, Macy's, Nordstrom. There are a couple of new shops that I have seen in the mall that carry up to a boy's 10 or 12.

My favorite online places are CWD Kids and Blue Turtle Kids. Wes & Willy is a very nice brand - their stuff runs big, but the material is nice and thick and it wears well.

A lot of my brand preferences tie in with the fact that DS is tiny. He has always been very thin so I need pants that come in slim or run narrow, or have the adjustable waist. We are just now getting past the struggle of finding stuff that fits him without looking babyish. He is 14, so even though he still FITS in stuff from Gymboree he refuses to wear it. :rotfl2:

I am not a fan of Kohl's because their pants tend to be cut funny and they only look decent for a couple of washes. They do have good sales on brands though, if your kids wear Levi's and Nike. We had some twill pants from Children's Place last year when DS had to wear a uniform to school, and they held up better than the pants from Kohl's.

I have 2 boys in the same sizes as yours...I generally buy things like jeans at an outlet mall a few hours away (before school starts). The best/cheapest jeans I've found are at Osh Kosh, and you can usually sign up for discounts/coupons, but they run good deals too.
Otherwise, I'm usually looking for hoodies/shirts at Old Navy or JCP and I ALWAYS make sure to have a coupon. Since its kind of early in the season, its hard to find a lot of warmer clothing right now. I'm hoping they roll out some nice merchandise in the coming month.
I did forget to mention Abercrobie kids and Aeropostale for kids...sometimes they do have a nice clearance section and we've recently gotten some cute layering t's for this fall/winter. Make sure to sign up for their emails too, so you get all the coupons!
Good luck to you!!

We do a lot of Osh Kosh and Old Navy. My son has to wear uniforms to school, so we really like Osh Kosh's khaki pants and shorts for that, but aside from that, their jeans fit my son really well, are decently priced, and seem to hold up really well. We also like Old Navy sweatshirts and polos. Other than that, we pick up his t-shirts and athletic shorts or pants from Target.

My DS is 10 and I just ordered a bunch of stuff from JC Penny online. They had more of a selection then in the store. Also Abercrombie, I can buy shirts in there on sale pretty cheap. I also shop at Kohls & Old Navy. I love Childrens Place, but DS won't wear that stuff anymore.

Basically, they wear sports clothes for school. I can get it all at Academy or another sporting goods store. Other than that, Boden, Gap (jeans and khakis only), Abercrombie (shirts only), Old Navy (tees), and Nordstrom (funkier stuff).

These stores but I always shopped the sales rack a season ahead.

My boys all wear yard sales and thrift store clothing. I have been VERY fortunate and have found new or near new clothing that is name brand. My 12 year old is average size and my 10 year old wears husky....so that makes it tough to hand me down!

Thankfully I found 4 pairs of husky size 10 shorts and 6 pairs of Husky size 10 jeans in very good condition for $1 each at our local thrift store. I bought them up!~

I have found quite a few Lands' End items for my 12 year old for about $1 each lately as well.

They are very well stocked with clothing for now and I rarely spend more than a few dollars on each item.

My oldest is 9 and in a 8 pants 10 shirts. I love Kohls sales combined w/shopping passes. I tend to get a lot of the kids stuff there. I also go to gap. I love their clothes for boys, always have. I asked if they had any over the head hoodies last week. they didnt but said they were hopeful as the girls just got some in and they tend to get similar things. She said they stopped carrying them a few years ago because of the strings.

I'm on the hunt for non-zip hoodies myself. His football one has seen better days.

I buy most of my DS8's clothing at Target, Kohls & Sears. Lately, I've been on Ebay looking for lots of boy's clothing in his size. I won an auction last winter for 10 pair of size 12 slim jeans and a few long sleeve tees for only $15...I think shipping was an additional $10 or so on top of that. I also do that for DD7. I've gotten tons of cute stuff for her that way.

Pants- Sears. Love their wear out guarantee with my boys. I've brought back 10 pairs of jeans in the past year and got brand new ones, no questions asked!

Shirts- ON, Sears, Kohl's, and where ever else has good clearance racks. Luckily, my sons are size 7 and I've still been able to buy a season ahead.
