Well, I've been doing so much scrapping the last few weeks, and have a lot more coming soon after my next trip, so I was wondering what other people do for mail-order developing (i.e. you send the pics over the Internet, and they send them to you via snail mail printed).

I was using Rite-Aid's and Wal-Mart's 1-hour service, but that's getting pretty expensive. Using Wal-Mart's online service to get them via mail, you pay .19cents for 4x6, and .57cents for 5x7. Shipping was a dollar or so, and they arrived in about 4-5 days from when I ordered them (I think it was Monday to a Friday).

Any other sites do any better price-wise? I know there are a lot out there, but it's a bit overwhelming and I'm not sure which sites to "trust" or not. I'd love to know what y'all use, and besides price I'd be very interested in turnaround time as well. I have learned to plan my layouts a few days ahead to use mail order developing, but speed is still important to me.

BTW, does anyone else use MyPublisher for bound books? Their Fall 50% off code expires at midnight tomorrow, and they say it's the last one of the year. I've had great experiences with them before, but I just don't have any books that need to be sent right now. I was really, really satisfied with their service.

I use costco at .17 a print and pick them up at the store. I may start using the CM photo Center... you can preorder 750 prints and pay .12 for them... and the shipping isn't spendy. (But you need a consultant number to create a free account... mine is 68254974 if anyone is interested) Their turn around depends on the shipping. 5-8 days is standard... but they have overnight shipping too, and everything in between.

I diidn't like the mypublisher software. I didn't feel I could play with the layouts enough! I have looked into Heritage Makers. Creative memories has one now too called StoryBook. I do like their software.

Thanks for the info, Davids-Coco!

Yeah, My Publisher is for straight-forward layouts. I think it's great if that is what you are looking for. I did a few last year during another 50% off sale, and they final books are beautiful - they are really display pieces. I know it's not digital scrapbooking, but they are so nice and clean, and when they have a sale (usually 2for1 or 50% off) it's usually a great deal.

Thats what I found. I wanted something a little fancier, and they reminded me of photography books.

And that's why I ended up scrapping, LOL. I think describing them as photography books is a perfect way to explain them. We did them after a big trip last year (before I started scrapping - I just began a couple of months ago), when they were doing a 2-4-1, and for $50 we go two forty-page books and they came out so beautiful. The full-page ones were gorgeous - especially the ones with the red curtains from the Princess Room at MK.

Now, though, that I'm in to scrapping, I've found myself scrapping many of the same pics that appear in that book. I'm still glad we did MyPublisher, though, and I just may do it again with a coupon. In addition to scrapping, of course! ;)

Just for fun, download and play with StoryBook... Here's the program: http://caspedia.cachefly.net/storybookcreator/download.htm and here are extra templates: http://caspedia.cachefly.net/storybookcreator/themes/default.htm

I think they are great as gifts when you want to tell more of a story than the photo books.

Thanks for the link! I checked out the site and bookmarked the link - I'll download it and try it out later this weekend when I have the time. That does look like fun!

(BTW, your piglet message in your sig is hillarious! Too bad there is a traditional "Christmas Ham")

LOL so true! And thanks. :) When I first got sent the icon, the look on Piglet's face just attracted me right away...he looks oddly greatful, but a little nervous as well, LOL.

I love Winkflash. They ship out quick - .12 a photo and .99 shipping if you order only 4x6 prints. They do charge a little more if you order larger sized prints but not much. I think they also have a free deal when you sign up. You can also choose matte, gloss or to have a white frame around your pic which I do sometimes.

WinkFlash sounds nice. Do you prefer the matte or the gloss for scrapping? And how speedy do you find their shipping?

Thanks for the suggestion!

I usually do glossy - also I placed an order on Tuesday evening, they printed and shipped it Wednesday and I received it this morning. I have only had one instance where I never received the photos and they reprinted and resent them in a rush order. It was around Christmas time but I was having difficulty with my mail - I don't think it was their fault.

That sounds like great turnaround. Thanks again for the great info, Julie.

Their site was great - and I liked the variety of products they offer, and the free 50 first prints. That's a heck of a deal.

I thought the $20 price for a 2'x3' poster was great as well. Their base price for 4x6 is the same as Wal-Mart (.12cents), but their prices for 5x7 are signifigantly cheaper (Wal-Mart is .57cents, WinkFlash is only .29cents).

I'm definately going to give them a try, especially with the 50-free deal.

.57¢ does sound a little steep for and extra inch of paper. I never realized that before. Although I usually use 4x6 and go to the store to get things developed. I'm running to Wally world for one thing or another at least 3x a week.

Julie you've never had problems with missing photos or anything other than your missing shipment. which wouldn't be surprising they would get lost around xmas with all the extra mail that is out there. Do they absorb the cost of reshipping them rush delivery?

I use YorkPhoto.com which has .10 photos everyday without having to pre-purchase like some other sites. They also have an .08 code right now which is "YJL8cents" but only for the first 100 photos. :cool1:

How's their shipping and quality?

www.snapfish.com 12 cent 4x 6's . I forget how much the bigger ones are, but i've been with them since they first started, so I have hundreds of albums on line on their storage. Easy to share, too.

Winkflash didn't charge me any extra for reprinting or shipping and they were very apologetic about it and sent the reprints out immediately.
