Where do you park at PHL?

Hello Philly fliers,

I am wondering which off-site parking lots you are using these days at Philly International? I used Ampco Express in February and had a really good experience. I used to use Sunpark on Bartram Ave but they really had gone downhill in service. Now I know Avistar took them over. Does anyone have any experiences to share?

Also, any other recommendations? Thanks! :goodvibes

I can tell you do NOT use the airport economy parking. We did 2 weeks ago and never again! We came home on a Sunday night flight and every shuttle that came by was already full or had room for 1 family. After almost 45 minutes of waiting, DH took the car keys and squeezed himself on to a full shuttle and I waited with the luggage and the kids. We landed at 8:35pm and we didn't head for home til 10:15pm! What a nightmare!

Here is a link to parking lots (some info may be changed; it's an older link). Luckily, we live fairly close to PHL, so drop-offs by family members is easily arranged. When we do drive, we use SmartPark (behind the old Westinghouse building). They are not the cheapest, but service is great; shuttle pickups are frequent and quick. There are scads of choices. Airport parking would not be my first choice.

We used Colonial Parking last year and they were really good. We parked, and got the shuttle to the airport. They even helped us with our bags. There is a coupon on their website for $1 off and the 7th day is free I believe. www.colonialparking.com

HTH's!

We've also been using Winner Airport Valet Parking and have been happy with them. It's not necessary to make a reservation with them at all. We just show up and they accommodate us.

They frequently have coupons in ValPak, which is good for a reduced rate. They also have a frequent parker program. Park 10 times, and you get a credit for a five day stay. I think our next trip with be the tenth time.

I'll second Colonial Parking. I've used them 5 times in the last year (both to WDW and for business) and have been very satisfied.

Their location south of the airport is very easy to get to/get out of if you are coming from South Jersey (via Commodore Barry Bridge), Delaware or southern Delaware county or Chester county (via 322).

Have used SmartPark - no problems, SunPark Scott Way - before they were bought out - no problems either (although I did hear others were not so lucky)

We prefer Ampco.

we use EXPRESSPARK all the time , never had a problem :thumbsup2

Not trying to hijack this thread, but I use to travel extensivly and have tried almost all of the off site locations as well as the garages. If you can make it work you might want to try a towncar or shuttle service instead. Nothing beats being picked up at home a wisked straight to the terminal. And when you return home tired with cranky kids it is so nice to have someone waiting for you at the bottom of the escalator to help with the luggage and wisking you straight to your front door. It's a nice luxury to keep the magic going right up to the end.

Almost hate to admit it, but nowadays we just bite the bullet and park at the long-term garage at the terminal.
At $17/day, it's a rip-off, I know. But, at least we're on the road shortly after getting our luggage.

For whatever reasons, in the past, we've always been stuck with two tired kids, waiting for shuttles, while we could've been on the hour long drive home.

A couple of my husband's co-workers have stayed at one of the airport hotels the night before an early flight and utilized the hotel's shuttle. Parking was free for the length of their vaca. It came out to just a few more dollars than parking on airport property, plus they had breakfast included with their hotel stay. This year we hope to have friends or family drop us off since we leave and return on a Sat. Last year we used long term parking...never again. No luggage assistance is offered on the shuttle and the driver was downright surly.

We usually use ExpressPark, too. Never had a problem with them.

with Winner you don't have to take a shuttle. You drive to the parking lot, they drive you in your car to the airport and upon return you call them when you get your luggage and they show up to give you your car. I paid an extra $10 to leave directly from the airport. You don't have to do this though. I never waited more then 15 min for my car and I've used Winner several times.

Our family...and extended family, too...uses Pacifico Valet at the Automall. Drive to Pacifico, check in and the driver drives you and your family in your car with your luggage to curbside check-in. (no lugging your bags from your car onto a bus or van) :thumbsup2 When you get back from your vacation, get your bags, then call Pacifico and they pick you up in your car right outside baggage claim. Load your family and luggage into the car, drive back to Pacifico with the driver, pay your bill and go home. :sad2:

Most of the drivers are retired police officers, and they are very nice.

Here's the link to their site www.pacificovalet.com

There's also a $10 coupon on their site.

I'm glad someone else admits to doing this! We consider it a convenience and well worth the money. We gather our luggage, and then just go up the elevator to get the car.

We tried long term, and then me just trying to get the luggage, while DH went and got the car. It was a mess because he had to keep getting go rounds, didn't see me IN THE RAIN, etc.

We used to do limo service until one time the driver showed up almost an hour late. That was it for us.

Another vote for Colonial Airport Parking. We just used them this past weekend and it was great as usual. The drivers helped with the luggage and even put it right in the car for us on the way home. You can find a coupon at www.longtermparking.com.

DBF travels quite a bit for work and has just started using Wally Park. I'm not sure how the prices compare, but he hasn't had any issues with the service. I believe they are the closest lot to the airport.

We haven't used Colonial because we are usually driving Southbound on I-95 (from the Walt Whitman Bridge). Is it hard to get to from that direction?

I've used economy parking at the airport, and its fine for getting to your flight... however getting back to your car with your luggage is a different story.

From reading this, I think I'm going to try Pacifico Valet.
