Ok, i have only flown once with my mom, a long time ago. I have a couple questions:
#1 where do you pack your toiletries/personal items, like shampoos, deodorant, shavers, ect.. In your checked or carry-on baggage?
#2 I usually pack the kids complete outfit, in 1-2 gallon baggies with their name so they can just grab a bag and get dressed without taking forever to find matching clothes and making a huge mess. Is there any problem with having all these plastic bags in my suitcase, i know it sounds weird! I just want to make sure i have everything figured out, I'm nervous enough about flying! :scared:
THANKS! :sunny:

No problem with the baggies...they work great...

I put toiletries in carry on incase the checked bag gets lost. ALso if packing more than one checked bag, don't make 1 suitcase for one person, etc. mix it up incase one bag does get lost, then everyone will still have something.

Also worth remembering, however - pack any sharpish objects, so that's razors, tweezers, scissors, needles (apart from if you have to have an injection in-flight) and anything that can be considered a weapon should be packed in your checked baggage.

I always put my shampoo, conditioner and hair stuff in a plastic bags so if by chance they do open at least it will be inside of the pastic bag.

I pack all my toiletries in my checked bags ( unless you have prescription meds) I try to keep my carry on as light as possible and figure if they misplace my suitcases for a bit I can get shampoo, toothbrush/paste at the hotel and live without the rest for a bit. The plastic bags for kids work great but I have found if you leave a corner open, don't zip all the way you don't trap any air in the bag and they don't take up as much room, will flatten better in the suitcase. I keep one suitcase for each makes it easier but I will put one outfit or underwear in another case.

also remember that any pressurized aerosols etc should be in your carry on (or else they might open up in the hold of the plane)

I like to keep a swimsuit, pj's, toiletries and one change of clothes in each carry-on just in case of a lost bag or if we want to head right to the pool.

I always pack my toiltries, a complete change of clothes, pj's, swimsuit, camera & film in my carryon. Now when I'm on the return trip I will check everything except camera & filmand any souvies I bought because I've already got this stuff once back home.
I always keep my meds in my purse.

I take a bare minimum of toiletries in my carryon--toothbrush and paste, hair brush, deoderant, and my makeup--and little sample packets of face cleanser and makeup remover. The rest goes in the checked bag. Basically I have enough in my carryon for an overnight or extended stay in an airport.

**please be careful with carry on bags**

This past Feb. we fly from Boston to St.Lucia with a stop over in Miami. We flew with another couple... My luggage is red with wild ribbons (husband is not so crazy about carrying it, but helps to identify) our friends that were traveling with us was plain Black. Each couple had one carry on bag and one backpack. When we boarded the plane we had to put our carryons suitcase to the front of the plane ahead of where our seats were because everyone had so much carry on baggage. (you know the bags filled with everything you don't want the airlines to loose!) Well you know when people are getting off the plane you end up just sitting and waiting until it is your turn to stand up??
By the time our friend was able to get up, to go upfront to get it, it was long gone.. Someone took the liberty of stealing our friends bag. It was not a mistake because there was not a bag left behind, & nobody ever turned it in. :sad2:

Please keep an eye on your carryons!!!

Thanks for all the great ideas, i packed all our mini shampoo, soap bottles in little plastic baggies and then put them in one of those little toiletries bags that came with my luggage set. I will put it in my carry-on bag. I wont have to take out each shampoo, soap, ect for them to look at will I? I only ask because i read something about putting personal items in clear plastic bags, so they can see them i assume. And i will have it in that toiletry bag.
