Where do you go to get hard-to-find Disney items other than eBay?

Hi Everyone!

I have listened to the podcast for 3 years but am now just joining the boards. We recently went to Disney during the Food & Wine Festival to run the half marathon (but also to eat lots of great food!). Before the trip, we planned souvenirs we wanted to buy and were disappointed when a few items were already sold out. Which has got me thinking and led me to ask you all!

Where do you go to get hard-to-find Disney items? I watch eBay but things don't often come up on there, and that is pretty much all I know about. For example, I would love to get one of the food & wine hats the cast member's wore this year - they were so classy!

Plus, it would be fun to look through if there are other places Disney things are for sale.

Any suggestions of where I can look? Or any places were you connect with Cast Members who are willing to pick things up for you?

Thanks so much! Best, Jeff

Ebay is the best source, I think. They used to have a feature where you could post things you were looking for, this was useful for people that had a collection of stuff, be it Disney, Star Wars, Troll Dolls (ha!) or whatever. Sellers could browse under their item type, like "Troll Dolls", see what people WANTED, and then list if they had the item, and send a link to the listing to the person searching. I think they discontinued it? It worked for me once, someone wanted an item I had, that I did not want to even sell, but when I saw the wish, I did sell it to them (for $100! it was funny, they posted wish as "will pay up to $100 so I listed it at $100, lol)

And there is a Facebook page, Disney Garage Sales, probably many others like that. There are Disney "personal shoppers" for WDW and DL, and even for the parks overseas. Also now there is the ShopParks app, which is fantastic, I hope it gets expanded to Disneyland in the future. You can also call the Parks and get many items shipped to you.

Theme Park Connection sells props, costumes, high end and rare Disney collectibles. They have a store front in Orlando, but also do sales online via their website, and of course, ebay.

Other than that....you just have to keep trolling ebay. I find a lot of neat vintage Disney stuff at garage sales and thrift stores, but I'm never looking for something specific then and take whatever comes my way.
