We are off to Disneyland for the first time tomorrow and I think my girls would love to do the penny pressing - I have seen on here that people have rolls of pennies and was just wondering where you might get these from - obviously when we change money we will just have notes :confused3

I was able to get a lot of pennies from the Seven Eleven around the corner from the hotel I stayed at (Peacock Suites). Maybe just buy a paper in the morning and ask for a few extra pennies :)

Try these places

Your hotel - The concierge, front desk, or cashier at the hotel restaurant may be able to help you out.

A Bank - They will have all the pennies you need and you may be able to ask for new coin rolls so they all are nice and shiny.

Grocery store - They are more likely to have extra rolls of coins, more so than a liquor or convenience store.

Have a great time tomorrow and have fun penny pressing! I'm off to Disney today.

There is a penny machine in the Penny Arcade on Main St. I think it is a quarter that you put in to get the pennies.

Thanks for the information everyone - what would I do without all the help you get from these boards ;). So we will need 2 quarters and 1 penny for each press - is that correct??

I hadn't thought of asking at the hotel, we might try that as a first option.

We are just getting organised here for going to the airport then its a 15 hour trip - but because we cross the international date line we arrive before we leave. My girls are all but busting with excitment :dance3:

Take a look at the link JLmarr provided. Most machines are for pressing pennies. But also some press nickels and quarters, not many but they are around.

Also keep in mind that if you ask a hotel or store for a roll of coins you are asking them to give up thier reserve change. Given your international situation I wouldn't worry about asking, it just may not be easy to find them this way.

RallyMokie suggested going to the Penny Arcade on the left side of Mainstreet USA in DL when you are entering the park, and using the machine in there that vends pennies. Also this is where a handful of the pressing machines are.

I agree with others who suggest that it's probably easiest to just get the quarters from Main Street. They seem to give out a lot of shiny pennies for your quarter--I got several shiny pre-1982 pennies for 25 cents. (Those are best if you want all copper pennies; newer pennies are just coated in copper with aluminum/etc. inside, so your pennies get streaky.) Most of my favorite coins are in the Penny Arcade, too. And you can spend any that you don't want to spend on pressed pennies, in the arcade attractions.

Have a great trip!
