Trying to purchase a traditional style love seat or sofa - damask fabric with exposed cherry or mahogany wood.

Ethan Allen wants $2500
Levitz wants $1200 for loveseat and sofa
Seaman's wants $699 for sofa

Obviously different quality. Lots of furniture places in CT to choose from. Don't have the energy to drive to High Point, NC to buy direct. Where do you purchase your furniture from?

When we moved out of state last August we sold almost all the furniture so we purchased almost a house full from Ashley Furniture.

You dont' have to go to high point to buy furniture.I have used Almans before, ask for Joel and I also have used Roses ask for Darlene. You can do telephone sales if you know the style # and colors of the furniture you want. They both have awesome prices on furniture and if you don't live in NC you don't pay sales tax Shipping was very reasonable. Less than the tax I would have paid. If you need phone #'s let me know and I will post them.

DW wanted Ethan Allen bedroom set, wo we got that there.
She also liked the Thomasville (Mahogany) dining room set, but after the 23 week fiasco for our entertainment center (from the Thomasville store in NY) we decided to look elsewhere. We (she) found Huffman Koos...they were absolutely PHENOMENAL, quoted delivery day at purchase time (spot on), matched NC prices, and 0% financing if you opened a HK account.

We wound up having some wood polish residue on the furniture when it arrived, and the LR coffee table was scratched...the delivery guys (who pointed it out) set up an appointment for the service crew to come out and they said to keep the scratched table until the new one arrived ("you are the customer and you should not be inconvenienced for our error") Very good service and pricing, highly recommed them.

Don't know where in CT you are, but I think there's one in Norwalk, near the Maritime Center. We went to the one in Rockland. Hope that helps!

I'm in the same boat you are.

We just purchased a bedroom set from Ethan Allen. To be delivered this month sometime. (Now to get rid of the old set!)

Their quality is obvious. I can't wait to get the new set.

We are hesitating on the couch though because this is for our formal room and our dog likes to hang out on that couch. (Never bothered me before because the couch in there is crap anyway and we never use the room really.)

So we are debating: get the beautiful couch for $2100 and a loveseat for $1500...cover it or whatever when we are not home and "train" the dog not to jump on it (yeah right!) or just buy a whole, cheaper set for around $1400 from another store?

Not sure yet! LOVE the Ethan Allen couch though. Custom made,, etc.

good luck!

I purchased a sofa and loveseat last year from the JCPenney home store. I'm very happy with the product (Broyhill) and the price.
I used to buy all my furniture from This End Up - boy, do I miss that store!
