Hi All,

I had some questions regarding scooter rentals at the Disney Resorts. When you rent a scooter from Randy or other companies where do you leave them on Disney property. Is there a certain designated section for them or do you keep them in your room at the following resorts :the Grand Flordian, The polynesian, the beach club, the Contemporary, animal kingdom lodge? I am asking these questions since i am planning on renting two scooters and thought it might be to crowded to keep them in the room. Please let me know.

Thank You.

Dale

Normally you keep them in your room but I am sure that you could make arrangements with the desk to keep one in the baggage area. Just make sure they know it will need to be plugged in for charging each time you leave it.

Somebody posted that they left the scooter with Bell Services (Baggage area) like Lisa suggested. I can't remember which hotel they were staying at, but I think most would help you out.

I had mine delivered to the front desk, and they stored it with baggage. The downside to leaving the scooter is dealing with possible lines picking it up and returning it.

Hi ALL,

I just wanted to say thank you to all who replied. It is appreciated.

Are you saying you will have two scooters in one room? We stayed at ASMu last month & I just backed my rented scooter into the room each time. MAYBE we could have fit two scooters inthe room, but I suspect we would have had to move some furniture a bit. I suspect the hotel will try to be accomodating - or at least I hope they would :).

Hi JudithM,

I am trying to determine Weather or not we can fit two scooters in one room and still be comfortable or if we will need to have one in another area i guess the luggage area based on what other people told me. Based on your experience with a scooter is it easy to drive . My mom has a lot of difficutly holding things or grabbing things with her hands. Do you have to turn the scooter very much when you are going to the right or left or turning around in a circle?

Thank You for your reply and any information you can give me.

I strongly suggest that you take your Mom to someplace she can try a scooter (ECV) before you decide to use one. If she has problems gripping with her hands this may not be a good option for her. The scooters require a constant grip on the handle and the bar the controls the movement. No pressure, no go. This was the reason I was switched to a power wheelchair. Could not grip without my hands going numb and as person who uses her hands to speak this was unacceptible. Your Mom may need to be pushed in a Manual wheelchair.

Dale, Lisa gave you a good suggestion about trying a scooter someplace else first. I know I have seen them at some grocery stores & other stores like Walmart, etc. Now those that I have seen are bigger/clunkier looking than the ones I have used in FL. Your mom does need to use her hands to go in either direction.

Any of the older deluxe hotels should not be a real problem in gettting 2 ECVs in a room.

I am most familiar with the Contemporary; it might involve moving the table closer to the window and chair.

I know the Contemporary and Polynesian have all rooms the same size.

One time staying at the Beach Club we were put in a "Junior Suite", which although not having separate rooms was much larger than a standard room. You might, if stayig there, ask a few days out about the possibility of an upgrade and explain why.

You do not even want to think about either the Animal Kingdom Lodge or Wilderness Lodge, those rooms are much smaller.

Here's the phone number for WDW Resort Special Reservations:
(407) 939-7807
(407) 939-7670 [TTY]
They might be able to help you a lot with your questions. They are the place to call for any special needs questions at WDW resorts.

We stored the ECV in a room next to where the concierge was. it was a large vestibule that led to the break room and some offices. I was told to leave the key in in case they needed to move it. I didn't have to have anyone get it for me, we just strolled thru the "cast only" door and retrieved it. In addition to the bells services option, other resorts may have a place like this you can stash it, it seems worthwhile to ask. Because we did this, we were glad that they had us in a room close by the elevators, those halls are LONG!!! Have a great trip!!!
